Maybe to prevent users from disclosing important details about their system.

Try hitting control-print screen to copy the text to the clipboard and then paste it somewhere else.
Granted this doesn't work everywhere, it's common enough where it can save you plenty of typing. -

Ctrl+C (Copy) works with all the dialogs and message boxes from Windows and most of Microsoft apps.
This works also on 3rd party software if they use the standard dialog library. -
Great!

As to why, I guess this explains it:"The text displayed through a static control window is not selectable with the mouse. To partially remedy this behavior, with Windows 2000, Microsoft introduced a little-known feature to simplify the task of copying the text displayed in a standard message box to the clipboard."
Apparently, CTRL+C affects focus as well (causing a 'Ding' sound). CTRL+INSERT is actually recommended.
