Netscape 8.1 has been released, this release has a new spyware scanner and many other fies especially with the IE engine. the worlds best browser has gotten better. Right now Netscape only has the web installer, but I have the full installer.

*Separate activation is required for the spyware scan to take place.
I haven't even gotten it fully installed...
The splash screen looks better than 7
I like how it doesn't default to fusion
I like the option for profiles
I'm going to have to go to work tomorrow and ask why no Mac/Linux version though
For 5 minutes I like it...

I don't particularly fancy using a netscape browser. Firefox is one thing, but going back to Netscape (had some bad experiences w/ their browser, even in the 7 era) just doesn't seem to work for me.
Isn't it ironic that they're using the IE engine as an option now? -
It probably never will be on other OS's, as its IE rendering option depends on Windows.
It is funny how when you mark a site as trusted it switches to IE's engine. Plus in some ways it is more insecure - it inherits vulnerabilities from IE and Firefox, and may even have some of its own.
Netscape was once big, and I doubt they will ever get back what they had. It could have been more successful had AOL not stuck with IE (but then again, if they had gone with Gecko, Firefox would not exist). It's a niche browser now (perhaps even Opera is more popular). -
Pfft. Netscape Schmetscape.

Can't argue with you there, I believe that was the condition of the lawsuit though....we had to use IE technology for the next 5 years (I should probably check that).

Does anyone care? Most users use IE or Firefox.

Some of the new features are that you can decide if you want to set trusted sites to either the Netscape or IE engine, under site controls, Active X comes disabled by default.

BTW, this is the first time I have ever used Netscape to access Windows Update
