You'd rather it ships buggy?
Let them get it right. -
Exactly Larry. Why is everyone so impatient. It's been delayed, it's not gonna be dealyed for much longer thana week or more. I couldn't see this being put back till september 2005
-
Thankfully none of the dates were ever published external dates. They were always internal. And all changes were communicated immediately to partners.
But yeah, this won't be a long slip. It'll be this month anyways and, personally, I'm glad. I've had some minor issues with SP2 and Citrix this week that I'm hoping will be fixed. -

I thought
a) it did ship buggy, and it was called the "public beta"
b) Microsoft actually encouraged people to install the beta before it was done because, as buggy as it was, it was more secure than SP1
I think we are all too hung up on the paradigm of things being "done." Things are never done. SP2 will be followed by SP3, or Longhorn, or something else and so on and so forth. Microsoft should just get in the habit of shipping whatever they think is the best version currently available. Welcome to the age of subscription updates. Here's today's Build du Jour. LOL -

Do you mean to say that all of our problems are gone to be resolve when they ship it this time? Wow! -
I guess we'll find out, because at 10:08 AM today, build 2180 was designated as Windows XP Service Pack 2. FINAL.

If you have access to WindowsBeta for SP2, you should be able to download it now.
Supposedly it will be posted to the Microsoft Download Center "next week," and then appear on Windows Update on August 10.
