like animation? rent Mirror Mask..  (minh?)

i rented the dvd yesterday - its by the Jim Henson animation team

its not really a kids movie - more like an animated acid trip
very very freaky

i forgot animation could be so cool..  getting too used to pixar 3d

although they use 3d alot - its just more ... luminous or something.. very artsty

Becauses today's computers don't have a multi-thousand SGI visualization nodes ready to process these in real-time.

Although give it about 20 years and we'll have real-time Monsters Inc. on our computers.

The "Money for Nothing" video is 20 years old, 1986 t'was made in, 5 years later the same guys came out with "Reboot", and already our GPUs can nearly handle stuff like that in real-time.

I reckon in 3 years time we'll be able to have real-time Toy Story (1995)-quality graphics.

looks interesting... going to the top of my NetFlix queue.

What I liked most about that site was the progress indicators as the images loaded in the photos section... did you catch them load?  They report back what percentage of each images has loaded before they fade in.  Spiffy.

I don't think I want using my computer to be like a surreal acid trip.  Fear and Loathing in LV was a good movie, but I wouldn't want to try and navigate that.

but someday - hopefully someone like terry gilliam will do a UI for computers.. or other people with similar tastes will

I think Vista's UX has the potential to be extremely powerful. But we won't see anything interesting until 2 years after release though.
