I'll ignore your "text" comments because I consider most of it useful (especially having the column headers when not in details view is great, and will be even better when list view is back) and most of it was already there in previous versions anyway.
The "arbitrary list of guesses" can be customised! Just drag a folder either from the folder tree or the listing on the right to the "Favorite Links" to put it there. Much more useful than Common Places in XP which couldn't be customised so that was much more of a guess than this was.
"File tree that makes no sense logically in relation to drive", I have no clue what you even mean by that. I hope you don't file bug reports like this, you have to absolutely 100% over-the-top clear in those.
