Anyone have a Mindstorm kit? I'm going to buy one later on today, and I thought it would be a good idea to actually
research the things first [C]
And if you do, what's the coolest thing you've made with it? :O

Isn't Lego Mindstorm the plural of Lego Mindstorm?
As in: I'm going to buy five Lego Mindstorm kits today.
Just my 2c.
Edit: Actually I'm using 'kits' as the plural there... Its just that "Mindstorms" sounds very wrong... But other than throwing 'kits' on the end there is no way to pluralise it. -
I have one. Version 2.0. They're cool, though I might wait for the new NXT models. Those look quite spiffy.

I thought I'd look into this after remembering seeing them as a kid (I'm only a young'un) and my goodness, the NXT looks like Johnny 5 in the flash promo!! It's like all my childhood dreams come true, all we need now is James Bond and the cast of Police Academy!

Check out the Coding4Fun page:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/coding4fun/lego/default.aspx
There are .NET interfaces for it

Yeah, finding that page is what made me buy one

P.s. I bought one about 6 hours ago lol. -

I agree the NXT kits look very nice, and they're only a couple of months away. Might be best to wait?

I've played with the R2D2 set, but it's rather limited. It can basically only drive one built in motor forwards or backwards in response to sound or light. I'm sure the RIS is much better, and the NXT looks really cool.
The last Lego set I got was the "Code Pilot" barcode controlled truck
for my 16th birthday. It was basically a precursor to mindstorms which appeared a couple of years later. -
When I was a kid all we had were these Traxx things. Trucks with a keypad on the back where you could program the route the truck took. I had a trailer on mine would could be dumped as one of the controls .... sigh...

Spoiled you were, why I only had Tonka Trucks, which you had to move yourself ....
(cue old critters ....)
