It isn't designed to allow that.
Try changing it from within Media Player 10 (Via the "Advanced Tag Editor"). -
Then why for Windows Media Audio files i can but for MP3s i can't? (i notice this right now)
-
Because Microsoft want to discourage use of MP3s and encourage you to use WMA.

Haha. Somehow I don't doubt it, but it could also be becasue it's more code to write and since they don't like mp3's anyway, why write it? (Even though that functionality should be put into the system.) Hey, it's still in beta, I bet everything will be well once the final comes out. -
There is NO need to submit bug reports or suggestions!
Just take a second and think what would happen to all the poor ISVs that have devs who need to feed their family and happen to do this by some software that does just the thing you are about to suggest to MS.

No, but it should be. -
I agree.
But frankly it isn't a big deal... Media Player can do it, as can WinAmp... Plus there are a zillion tools to automate it... And at the end of the day its a shell, its not a media player or a meta-data editor (although some might disagree with me on that last point
). -

and when i select multiple documents i can't set for all at once properties. Its usefull if you have invalid album tracks tags. Yes, its not big deal but explorer should allow this. Its logic.
Another ilogical thing is to add a custom column for a music folder (Details View), for ex. Camera, this property is for images not for music still Vista explorer allow this. -

Sure, what if you have pictures of the band that you took and put them in the same folder? I know, that would be horrible orgainization, but it is still possible. I would dislike it if options were disabled because most people wouldn't use them. -

XP's Explorer also lets you change ID3 tag info from within the file's Property Tab.
I don't know if it does this OOB or if because I've got KLite installed, so it might add a shell extension for that or something.

in XP you also can't.W3bbo wrote:

Hey! When did that happen? I can't either! -
W3bbo's solution works here. No KLite, but I do have the KLite Codec Pack installed (Installed Divx over KLCP to fix some missing codec issue and to allow MP3 audio in my videos).

When I said "KLite" I meant "KLite Codec Pack". I'd never touch K-Lite/K++ with a 10-foot pole.
