I snagged Vista Beta 2 and I just booted up. It's working wonderfully. Install time was about 35mins.

Cool, tell all.
If Vista is as good as Office I'm sold

Seems solid. Seems fast. All of my hardware works....but I have to see if my printer works. I'm installing Battlefield 2 just now, I have yet to install office 2007 beta 2. I'll post more when I get a chance later this evening....work calls.

Damn you work! *shakes fist*

Zeo.. mind sharing some basic hardware specs for your install... (and which vista install x86 or x64?)... I'm gunna bual boot and see what the performance differences are... tho i doubt there should be much more than expected in a x86 vs x64 comparison.....

[C] [C] [C] [C] It's so much pain... I don't have it.

zeo... is list view back?

Hmmm... I have the choice between the German language version1, the Japanese language version2, or the 64-bit server version3.
1I don't speak German
2I don't speak Japanese (well, just a bit)
3I don't have any 64-bit machines
EDIT: uh, never mind, I see the English build now.

Stupid slow download server...

Agreed!!... Everyone Downloading from MSDN please stop now.... so i can get better than 70k/sec... thanks
Zeo... was kinda hoping for a more midrange set of specs.... I would have no doubt that Vista should run smooth on a machine in that realm (which should be considered vastly above its requirements)

Ang3lFir3, if it helps my laptop specs are below:
Intel Centrino 1.6GHz
1.25GB ram
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 Series (128mb dedicated)
100GB hdd
I guess you could call my machine 'midrange' if you really wanted to, but it still out-preforms my desktop (AMD Athlon XP 3000+) in Vista and HL2. -

Cool, most stuff was working for me in the ctp.
one big problem throuhg was the tv-tuner drivers...
I have 2 HP MC 2005 boxes that have Win-TV 150 PVR cards.
when I tried to run them I'd get nasty errors... CODEC and Driver type errors... I had the vendors "Vista beta" drivers but who knows?
I hope ither Vista or the vendor get that part working soon
the one other problem I had:
WIndows server 2003 Cert. Server will not work with IE7 due to some chnages they made in the activex enroll dll stuff! -

I'll be installing on an :
AMD A64 3000+ (sock754 E6)
1GB pc3200 (OCZ Value)
NV 6200TC 128MB
based demo machine later this week (when the hardware arrives)... so we will see how it all goes... honestly for just OS support and Office applications if more than 1GB is required to allow me to be productive.... we are going to have to have a talk with someone..... (i don't care how cheap ram is at this point)
