Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

Saw this on Neowin:

I thought this would be a "minor" update, addressing obscure issues... then I made the mistake of reading what's fixed in this Service Pack:

If you care about "minor" things like "slow performance," "high memory conditions," and "memory leaks," you might want to install this Service Pack

now that is a service pack I thought 1.1 was nothing but a distant memory to msdn.

Oh, and for those of you who weren't paying attention to this a couple of days ago, it's been posted as a Critical Update to Windows Update

Shawn Farkas mentions the security-related fixes, but I think there are some worthwhile performance-related fixes in there too

Oh joy! It fixes the problem where forms draw really slowly when you set a minimum/maximum size on them.

Weird, my autoupdate didn't download it. I had to visit WindowsUpdate and there it was (as a critical) while my autoupdate was active.

Everybody seems to be having that particular trouble right now. For some reason this update isn't being offered through AU. I hope that's only temporary.

Have you received a System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException by simply attempting to run the .NET 1.1 SP 1 installation? 

I received the following error from the JIT:

"An Exception 'System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException' has occurred in SL35.tmp"

Thoughts?  And yes, I have installed XP SP2 Successfully.

Is there anything in the Application Event Log?

The only error I've ever gotten installing the service pack is running out of disk space.  <sheepish grin>

How long should this take? It has been at this stage for over an hour with no bars showing on the progress meter.
