Dream Forum

Hypothetical question here.

If you could create a forum on the net, and the community could be anything you want, what would it be? What would your "dream forum" be? If an ideal community sprang up around it, what would it look like? How would your mods act under stress?

Would your forum be run by a manic-depressive mod? Or would your mod only jump in as needed and remove the trolls as best as they could before things got out of hand? Or would your mod just go ballistic one day and start destroying every thread in sight that they didn't agree with?

What types of topics would you discuss? Would you post videos?

I would first have to convince Charles to leave c9, and mod my forum. My forum would be dedicated to educating others in most all aspects of programming. I would like it to be a YouTube/DevShed/C9 forum...where Everybody created programming videos, teaching, showing, and explaining their latest technologies.

Basically c9, but with a different shell And slightly deviated functionality.

A group of jupitarians tell me me the cure for AIDS and how to build an invisibility device. Discussions could go to , but are not limited to, time travel and telling me what the point of existance is, mathematically.

My dream forum would not know of trolls, the community would be intelligent and mature enough to control situations and make every thread useful. Wait, I'm already a member of one of those forums and it's not C9.

When I first read the subject, I thought you were proposing a forum for talking about dreams, as in, "Last night I dreamed that zombies invaded, but Scoble saved us with a camera that fired laser beams!"

My dream forum would be an invite-only place where only smart, rich people could attend, and we would discuss our plans for building a faraway (offworld?) utopia, free from the concerns of the rest of the world.

I'm only slightly joking.

Good forums don't have members who complain about absolutely everything.

A while back I tried to host a forum focused on discussion related to evolution.  It was then that I realized that literally everyone on the Internet is a paleontologist.  Who knew?  It was an exercise in masochism.  My dream forum will materialize shortly after I win the power ball lottery and win a congressional medal.  However, I do have high hopes for the coming C9 upgrade...
