I am in trouble ... I deleted some files from a laptop which my dad had kept without my knowledge.
Can anyone suggest a really good, reliable data recovery software (which is especially freeware, or even an fully working evaluation) for NTFS ?
All the files are JPG by the way.
Please, give your suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Shreyas,
You can have a look at stellar. This is industry leader in data recovery. Dont know about the demo and functionality in it. You can have a look at, http://www.stellarinfo.com/
I have licensed coyp so, dont know what they give in demo copy. -
Thanks jigarmehta for that info.
Any other suggestions please ???

I've used GetDataBack for a long time. It's a little technical at times, but it works great. It's not free, but $79USD gets you free upgrades for life.

Just trolling the forums and thought I'd make a suggestion though it may be a little late, of course better late than never. Anyway, the best data recovery software that I have used is StompSoft's Recover Lost Data.

I have used this software several times now to "undelete" my accidental deletions with good result. Hope this helps, if not now maybe in the future.

Stellar Phoenix FAT & NTFS data recovery software is a file and partition recovery utility which recovers all the data lost due to software malfuntion, hard drive format, virus attack and sabotage. It provides partition recovery from FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, NTFS5 file systems. Performs NTFS recovery on all IDE, EIDE and SCSI disk devices.
I have used this software in past with great success, recovered almost all my files which I needed desperately.
Demo version can be downloaded from: http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm"> http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm.
When you run the demo version and start the scan of the hard drive, it will show you the recovered file in tree structure form, marked as deleted. So that we can easyily navigate through all our file which are lost. Depending upon the type of crash and the extent of damage, you might get up to 100% of your data. However, in some cases where corruption to the disk or critical system attributes is severe then data recovery is limited. we can save the data by getting the full version.
Hope I have explained how the demo version of Stellar Phoenix work.
