So I was installing my Adobe updates today, and I was greeted with a prompt, "Sorry, you only have 159 mbs of free space on your C:" - what!? Whoa!
I never noticed because I have 3 other drives, all about 60-80 gigs each. What is the best application you guys can think of to find large portions on a drive, and determine whether or not I need them?

TreeSize.
It shows you how much each folder is taking up, so you can easily identify if it's movable data or not.
They even have a freeware version.

I think there's also a program out there that lets you move stuff from say your C:/Program Files to your D:/Program Files. Changes the registry and stuff too...
This way you can just more your big things like Visual Studio or something to another drive. -

You could use memmaker - aaah sorry that was RAM and old MS DOS
DOS HIGH, UMB

Seriously: TreeSize isn't that bad. -
CrapCleaner. Its freeware, does secure erase, and free!

I use it on all of my computers from time to time. -

1) Stop installing so much crap.
2) Clean out your temp directories periodically as Windows sucks when it comes to doing this on it's own.
3) Check the program folders for uninstalled programs and delete anything that is left.
4) Clean out your Internet Cache for IE/Firefox (limit the size of it in the future as well)
5) Reduce the allowed amount of drive space allocated for the System Restore functionality (or just turn the annoying crap off altogether)
6) Empty your Recycle Bin.
Following those steps will net you a large amount of disk space back I'd guess.
I'll add another important step. It'll be big space saver for some people.
3.5) Check your video/music folders for files you don't play frequently and burn it to CD/DVDs.

WinDirStat gives an overview of what files/folders are taking up the most space, so you know what could be deleted / moved / written to CD.

The other thing that is quite handy, is that some of these programs (TreeSize I think) allow you to take snap shots and have a look back and see how folders have grown over time.
