I been watching WWDC for the past 5 years. The one thing I always see when Apple have the WWDC is to make fun of Microsoft. I always hear that Microsoft copying Apple but is it true. If Microsoft really did copy Apple software then why doesn't Apple sue Microsoft. A lot of software company sues each other for copy infringement but the one thing I don' t see is Apple suing Microsoft. Apple did sued Microsoft for the trash feature in the early 90s but that's all it comes to my mind.

As for suing Microsoft: Apple's been there, done that, and NOT gotten the shirt. OS advocacy is so 1980s, but old habits are hard to break. The whole industry has had a "pile-on" effect as Microsoft is late on Vista. MS has been far from perfect execution on Vista. They lost their way sort of the way IBM has done may times. Hopefully they can get the car out of the weeds, ditch, or mud or wherever the vehicle is and get the thing done.

Greetings All,
I made a Blog post on my Windows Live Spaces about this matter but Windows Live Spaces is having issues as of tonight therefore I'm posting it to allow all to see if you can't view it.
"Mac Users? A cult? Possibly. For a many years, PC users have come under constant attack from the Mac Community for using lesser hardware and lesser software Operating Systems but this year Steve Jobs has ably gone out his way to attack us personally. Oh the insult. And this time we're not taking it without retaliation. For too long Mac Users have had the unbelievably idiotic belief that if they don't use Microsoft Windows, then they're instantaneously safe from malicious software and being infiltrated by hackers. Not so. This was never the case. Believe it or not there was a time in Apple's History when their beloved Mac platform was subject to more malware than Microsoft's Windows. Yes; it's true. But obviously the Mac Users are going to deny it.With the revelation that all three major platforms; Windows, Linux and Apple Macs suffered from flaws in driver software that allow remote control of each platform through a flaw in the Wi-Fi Card's driver attached to either a Laptop running Microsoft Windows, a Linux Distrobution or a Laptop Apple like to call a MacBook to make you feel special, indeed the Mac Users came out in force and began defending their "clean reputation" as they do reguarly claiming that they don't have any "Viruses". No, they don't have Viruses but they have a Worm; that's a fact. Deny it they will, their Mac isn't secure, nor is Windows, nor is Linux and any OS is a liablity. In fact with the prominence of the Apple Ads - "Hello I'm A PC" "And I'm A Mac" there have been numerous spoofs on popular Web sites such as YouTube and Google Video and I have a feeling Apple have shot themselves in the foot in relation to the attempts to hack the platform, they even had a University cease its actions to infiltrate the Operating System because yes, Apple realises that their platform isn't as secure as their Cult following would like; it's a pity when you live in a Dream World as Steve Jobs does isn't it.Just face it:Your Mac Is Not SecureI can now expect the Upper Class "Haw Haw Haw" of Mac Users to decend on my Blog (http://scott-sutton.spaces.live.com) with derogetory comments and slanderous jibes, and yes, you can if you so wish but it'll only reinforce the fact that you've built up a self belief that Apple can protect you from the, in my opinion, inevitable. Which brings me to another subject altogether. They say Apple are creative, Apple are original. Well, according to the Apple OS X Leopard page they are, but I noticed an animated GIF file that displayed what I didn't expect. An Apple Mac system with a rotating cube desktop. Why is this significant?Because It's A Feature In Linux DistrobutionsApple branding others ideas and claiming innovation? Well I never, actually, saying that, Steve Jobs even had the audacity to claim that the Microsoft Windows Vista Logo that appeared on the wall at this years WWDC wasn't edited, nor had he placed a spherical Aura over the Logo no, of course he hadn't He lied through his teeth - He probably used a photocopier.“This is their Logo. You may think I took a Windows Logo and added a nice Aqua bubble on top, but no, that's the Logo, but underneath it's still Windows.” - Steve JobsLet me rephrase that for you dear Steven Jobs.“This is their Logo which we used without permission and edited causing copyright infringment. You may think, if you're a true Apple Fan and believe all that I say, I took a Windows Logo and added a nice Aqua bubble on top, but no we took it and illegally used it in our presentation, yes that's the illegally used Logo, but underneath the illegal modifications we made to it to make ourselves look the Saint it's still the mostly widely used Operating System in comparison to Apple Mac OS X, Windows."Looks like Apple will need those photocopiers for themselves when Microsoft sues them for copyright infringement. Well done, at least you got something right Apple, you're anticipating your own legal lawsuit. For all he's worth he is the ultimate Mac stereotype, continually jibing PC users as lessers. Excuse me, exactly how large is Apple's market share? Not large enough it seems. For the underdog, they're boastings are going to be their downfall and the self-denial Security wise only sets the Community up for a large and painful bringdown to Earth. Yes, Planet Earth, not the Apple Store coined "Genuis Bar". Us "lesser" PC users gather amongst ourselves and treat ourselves as equals.Apple have the audacity and the cheek to slam Microsoft yet Microsoft has accomplished something I expect Apple can't do in the near future indeed nor it seems could they do it in the past - They brought PC's into the mainstream and into the home in a method less expensive than the cost of an Apple Mac Mini. Amazing. No, you simply pay £20 for a Logitech Mouse instead of £35 from Apple's Store. You'd be paying through the nose for an Apple Mac, each and every one of us if they had their way, we'd be tied to DRM far more than we are using Microsoft Windows Media Player 10. Apple also continually jibe about Microsoft Windows Security issues. Excuse me and this is coming from a company that continually releases numerous Security updates that subconciously grow with every month that passes? Scared? You should be because I guarantee you that one of the 6 Billion inhabitants of this human collective is searching for a way to comprimise your Macintosh. At least one.At WWDC 2006, Apple's Time Machine Demonstration crashed on-stage but I very much doubt you'll see that mentioned in any of the mainstream press. I thought the Apple Mac OS X Operating System and its applications don't crash? That's what an irritable media puppet told us on television within the Apple Ads. OK, so it was Developer Release, but still, for an Apple piece of software is should be "perfect". In case you hadn't noticed, software isn't perfect. Not by a longshot. Not on any platform, not for any purpose. So put away your cotton handkerchief and become a man. Moving on. Microsoft was very careful to file the trademark for “Windows Vista”, because“Vista” was already trademarked by other companies specfically Vista Software so, as much as Apple would like to make you believe, their (mis)marketing department's bright idea is causing them to make a fool out of themselves slandering another persons product. I thought Apple were perfectionists?Time Machine also isn't as "innovative" as Apple would make you believe. No, not at all. In fact Microsoft Windows Sever 2003 has this exact feature, and it managed to ship before Mac OS X Tiger too - Yes, it's not an artificial claim. - and to be precise (Mac Users are always perfectionists at this.), it was 2003 to be exact. Yes 2003. Not 2007. And Apple claim that Microsoft is falling behind. I think some underhanded tactics are being employed here to make Microsoft look the larger of two evils - Who could have thought such a scanadal -; for all Apple "innovative" features, they can be quite self-delusional when it comes to making themselves look "better". Please, for goodness sake, grow up Apple. Accept that fact that people have other tastes, I use Microsoft Windows, does that make me the "enemy" or a bad or dirtied person in your eyes? Oh, I'm ever so sorry, I'm one less customer that Apple desperately needs to increase their already unnoticable market share. If you think I'm being immature, it's Pot Kettle Black Apple. Look at yourself before you criticise others."I'm a Microsoft Windows user, accept it. I've used SUSE Linux 10.1 to broaden my horizon but it didn't appeal to my needs but I won't be using a Macintosh anytime soon. Apologies in advance for this post length, it was sorely needed. I'd also like to point out that Apple Users are welcome on Channel 9, the majority are excellent and down to earth but Apple itself seeks to blow Microsoft over with immature ill-thought out untrue facts. And yes, I've used a Macintosh G4 with Mac OS 9. I'm no stranger to Apple systems, they're nice, but Apple are beginning to irritate many people I feel.Regards,Scott Sutton -
Why do people ever make fun of other people? Jealousy, Insecurities in themselves, etc...
That said, I laughed quite a bit at the intro.
I watched the whole WWDC video. I'll admit there were a couple of things that were pretty impressive. That said, I find it extremely funny that they make fun of Microsoft copying Apple then turn around and show new features that have either been something Microsoft or another company has done for years. Talk about hypocrisy!
As always, these are my own personal thoughts.

Because underneath the arrogant black turtleneck of power, he's actually a malfunctioning, lonely robot. The last of his kind.

Does it matter. Seems to me the most reproduced image from the WWDC is the Windows Vista logo. That's the kind of advertising Microsoft probably can't buy...

Did you hear about dtrace being integrated into OSX to provide realtime graphical debugging from XCode? Looks nice.

And all the discussion has people talking about Apple ... I am about to be a shareholder (the stock dropped) so something good came out of it.

Jealousy.

A bit OT, but does anyone have a link to video where MS makes fun of
Linux? It was some kind of Matrix-like video.
It was pretty funny ...
Edit: Ok, that was easy. Here we go ...

When ever people boast about how Mac's are better than PC's I always remind them that they almost didn't have their precious Mac's because the company was near folding until BG & MS reached into their pockets and helped them out. Some people pretend to forget this.

No we don't forget, but we are not naive enough to think that there wasn't something in it for Microsoft (like saving a market -Mac Office, and loosening complaints about anti-competition). I bet Microsoft still wish they still had their stock.

And before they made fun of Microsoft, they went after IBM.ACT10Npack wrote:I been watching WWDC for the past 5 years. The one thing I always see when Apple have the WWDC is to make fun of Microsoft. You could probably argue that now they are just going after IBM 2.0 (beta).

Apple fans (and their Linux bretheren to some extent) suffer from a weird incompatible attitude. On one hand they whine and wail and gnash their teeth at how they deserve respect and market share. On the other hand, their very appeal comes from an elitism that can only exist if they stay in the margins. Apple has the black turtleneck crowd, and linux has the hippy communistas in it's pocket.
MSFT, however, reminds me of the PC Professor guy from late night infomercials who is constantly saying "Buy my product". Their attempts at 'hipness' are lame at best, and they are so far off from the marxist utopian ideals, that they'll never appeal to the treehuggers. Instead, they simply try and write decent software.

Way to over-generalise.

OK, I've seen this used a couple of times, and by looking it up, I'm guessing that the q=quit and the t=trolling.
I'm being serious, here, however. This is an honest observation, not a baseless troll. -
