A buddy of mine let me borrow "Antitrust", which is an old tech movie. I really enjoyed it, although the introductory part scrolled HTML like it was some type of advanced cryptic language....weirdos ![]()
Anybody know of any other good movies I should rent?

Hackers is another good one. It's quite laughable from a technology standpoint (especially the screens), but still a great movie.
Swordfish is kind of a tech movie, kinda not. Definitely a fantastic movie though! -
Hackers is fun - and its got a young Angelina Jolie. Hackers 2 is cool, a little more geeky/techie. Sneakers.

Office Space is a good movie but it's not really techy like Hackers. It's about a developer who has the worst day of his live every single day, until he visits a hypnothist...
Another tech movie is Pirates of Silicon Valley which explains the history of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. -
If you want a good movie with a computer check-out Desk Set
-
Firewall - Harrison Ford
a lot of that one is good, close to real Teh
but the fax-machine / scanner thing would need a "WOZ" to build! -
Want see an interesting UI/computer system, check out the movie Minority Report with Tom Cruise. A lot of neat effects too. Gotta love those lil bugs that go into the eyes. Maybe that bug thing was part of another movie Aeon Flux? Either one is good.

Firewall was great too!

The Island.sc00ter wrote:Gotta love those lil bugs that go into the eyes. Maybe that bug thing was part of another movie Aeon Flux? Either one is good.

I knew it was one of them. All three were great movies. TY for the reminder (The Island)

AntiTrust is cool. Others you may want to consider:
Hackers
Hackers 2
Pirates of Silicon Valley (based on the real story of MS vs Apple)
Real Genius
Swordfish (not really techy, but has some nice tech in it)
Andromeda Strain (ditto)
Sneakers
Tron
War Games
Matrix
Here's some documentary-style tech shows. You may still be able to find them for rent or torrent.
Revolution OS
The Story of Computer Games
Hackers - Outlaws and Angels
In the Realm of Hackers
Triumph of the Nerds
Unauthorized Access -

That's a common error. There is no "Hackers 2" moive. What you are refering to is a movie called "Operation Takedown," movie that was intended to be based on the exploits of Kevin Mitnick. But, it is full of errors and very slanted against him. Non-the-less its still a somewhat entertaining film. If your looking for the true story 2600 has a moive called "Freedom Downtime," about the same events.
BTW, the reason some people know it as "Hackers 2" is that it was not releaced in the US for quite some time (untill last year i think) so American viewers got it of bittorrent and someone miss-labled the file as "Hackers 2" -
The book is a lot better than the movie. I'm not sure how it could be slanted against him, the guy is/was a crook. I'd trust Tsutomu's take of it before I would trust what the hacker underworld puts out.Programous wrote:

Not a tech movie, but Risky Business is one of my all time favorites.jsampsonPC wrote:Anybody know of any other good movies I should rent?
