They're talking about us! Yes, us lurkers!
Channel 9 is switching the posting model from a flat view to a threaded view -- where it's impossible to see new posts in one place...
Because, it is said that, it would encourage lurkers to post more.
Because, it is said that, lurkers are discourage by the off-topic-ness of the coffeehouse posters.
Tell them whether they're right!

Lurkers? that sounds almost sinister . I think visitors would be a better word to use. I guess I feel like the guy that said that a man can sit down in a room full of wise men and remain silent and be thought a fool,or he can speak and remove all doubt.

Good grief
The actual point is? So you could save me time reading the entire other thread (where this probably would have been better posted) -
I feel this is such an important issue that we should vote on it as a demonstration of the democracy that C9 is.
It also gives lurkers the anonymity that many require but allows them to have their say.
Good idea? -

Hello. My name is Andrew, and I'm a Lurker.

WHOA!
Listen, if you're going to switch to a threaded-view (as ugly as those are), just give the niner the option of which he/she desires...I mean, I actually LOVE the c9 flat-view. It's easy. Just give the niner an option somewhere of how to display threads...flat, or relational. -
Yes, threaded view == yuck, flat view == teh win.
Please, let us have an option to toggle. -

I like the idea of providing an option. We should do this.

Personally I think a threaded view, done right, is superior to a flat view. But then I used to spend a fair amount of time in newsgroups.

So does that mean it's settled?
We can all rest now?

I hope so. I was about to go on a bribing campaign to save the flat view & everything.jsampsonPC wrote:

But, earlier HumanCompiler was saying you don't want to provide an option. I'm all confused now...

Hey cool, hi !
So whaddaya think Andrew? Threaded or Flat? Which do you find easiest to lurk on?
Personally I'd prefer just flat with a 'quote to new thread' button, but if the new C9 can handle flat and threaded views I guess that's cool.

That was before I stole his kitten...

Why can't we leverage some WPF functionality goodness and have an alternate, 3-D spatial-type view?
