Why did you join Channel9 ?

I was just wondering why did my fellow c9ers join c9?
I'm especially talking to the ones who have been here for a long time, yes, you know who you are.
But that doesn't stop any new people to post here as well.

Ok, I came here to become a programmer, yes I know my profile says that I already am one, and my excuse is:

"Meh."

And anyway, I'm officially a programmer now since I have just started programming with Python. Please don't laugh, anyways its a great program you can, no should, download at their official website

Please don't confuse the official website with a piece of sh!t  (I shudder at python.com)(shudder)


Now that I've told you my reasons for coming on Channel9, you can tell me yours.

My work involves keeping an eye on Microsoft technologies, and I wanted to share and exchange knowledge with others. What better place than an online community with lots of interesting people involved with Microsoft backing.

I think that I'm in the minority or people when I say I like what MS is doing.  As I learn more and more about the company I see that they really are about educating people about their technologies and not just out to sell them.  While some of you might think that's a crazy philosophy, it really isn't.  Educated consumers are your best advertisers.  The more they know about what you do, how you do it and how it can benefit them, the more they will buy.

More or less, I'm here to get educated!  I want to see more technologies and how others adopt those technologies.  As we saw with the “GMail Drive” thread, people are thinking of creative ways to accomplish their goals and this is a place where some of them share their creativity with everyone.

My reasons, I suspect, are the same as many, perhaps one could say, completely obvious.

I am a Development Architect so it's my role to keep an eye on the goings on at the 'mighty soft'. It's also an opportunity to interact with the fellows that build the hallowed software and the 'saintly angels' that use the software on a forum provide by Microsoft to boot, so indeed an opportunity to good to miss.

The question to ask should be is ...

if you have anything to do with development using Microsoft technologies why aren't you on Channel 9?

I came here because Scoble told me about it. I've always been a "Microsoft Technologist" of sorts. From my career in design to web development to full scale development to enterprise support to sales and management I've always leveraged existing technologies and that's always been Microsoft.

There have been a few shoddy apps (ahem @ SMS) but by and large Microsoft apps have been fantastic in a corporate environment.

Dunno, just seemed like a great logical step and even though my participation's gone downhill that's mainly because the shine has worn off the idea.

Why am I still here (vaguely)? Because I'm still a Microsoft Technologist (of sorts) and between blogs, personal conversations with the friends I have on the various product teams, Channel 9 and our Account Manager here at work I feel like I have a fairly good tap on what's happening at Microsoft and that's something I enjoy immensely.

To meet chicks and aliens from exotic planets.  

To evangelize donut consumption.

I just needed something to read during my lunch break.

I heard about Channel9 when it first started. Because I'm the sort of person who likes to watch people doing new and exciting things, I figured I would enjoy the experience of watching Channel9 be started and mature: I find it personally inspiring to watch an idea become a success.

umm... i'm a programmer, working in home and abroad for the last 7 years. i got sick with Microsoft technology several times. But finally proved that its not the worst technology i don't want even my enemies to get sick like that with programming. also want help from the tech exparts. i found many gurus' here, so joined

To find an internship at Microsoft

For fun, mostly. It's also nice to have a place to talk with fellow developers... when I run into a really weird problem with VC++ or VC# there's usually someone here who knows about it (though it does take FOREVER to get a response sometimes).

It’s not what channel9 can do for you, but what can you do for channel9 that matters.

I heard that C9 was low in carbs.  That's why I joined.

Because this is something I have been looking for for some time, contact with customers beyond a weblog (nothing wrong with that though). More companies should do it. If anyone knows a company that does, please tell.
