I can't access some pages on MSNBC.

Some pages just throw a MessageBox that Says, "Operation Aborted". and then IE Closes.

Can someone else that's running IE7 verify if they get the same behaviour.

From searching google...err live search Smiley, this is sometimes attributed to BHO mal/spyware.

But I can't find any of that installed on to my machine, everything comes up clean, I run a pretty tight ship with my PC.

So I'm running Flash 9 on my problem machine, and these problems did appear to start right after I installed the newest version of Flash.

Flash 9 issue?...let's uninstall and see.

This issue does appear to be caused by a version of Flash 9.

I disabled my Active X control Shockwave Flash 9 Object thru the IE settings and I didn't have any problems after that bringing up the MSNBC page.

First run a little test to confirm it is Flash 9:

1. In IE go to the Tools menu
2. Internet Options
3. go to Programs tab
4. Select Manage Add-ons
5. Select Shockwave Flash Object
6. Choose 'Disable'
7. Click 'OK'
8. Try the MSNBC article again. Should work now.

To uninstall Flash 9, go to Control Panel, choose Add/Remove Programs, Select Adobe Flash Player 9 ActiveX, Select 'Change/Remove'.

FireFox is much worse at handling plugins --
CPU% is very high for Flash on FF.
QuickTime crashes FF frequently.

Other than that, it's better than IE, I think.

I'm on the IEUX team. My petknep@MS account got nubbed and won't let me in, attempts to retrieve the password have been unsuccessful. Charles also hasn't given me an MS tag.

I work in Bruce's team for Li (see team tour video). I'm the "new" guy on the UX team so while I do own a few features, I try to pick up all the loose ends to try to own more things [6]

So I am wondering, are you a C9 lurker, or does MS supply interns that patrol MS forums and feed possible bugs, glitches and feature enhancements into some type of queue that then gets routed appropriately?

I'm a lurker. I don't get paid to read C9, I do UX coding. Interns don't have time to troll forums, they are too busy trying to finish their intern projects.
