What is Hello?

now that is SCARRY!
all the press about google IM
well this is IT!
ps - downloaded it - running it - works with picassa as a local IM picture and chat client
"no websites. No email. No waiting"
"HELLO IS ALWAYS FREE"
that sound was Google ratcheting the screw another notch...
* now if they were to make picasa use Google desktop search DB - so it wasnt always updating... and they made a msn messenger import feature... and they made gmail & blogger interfaces look more like both picasa and hello... -
Hey Browser Boy, you're using a Smart Client there!

I was at a conference last week where they were singing the Halleluiah Linux Chorus, yet out of maybe 300 laptops NOT ONE was using Linux! Lots of $3,000 Mac’s, but many were interested in my Wi-Fi enabled PocketPC!
I was posting here on channel9 using a PocketPC and guys with 21' screens were watching my 3'X4' screen! -
re; eagle's last post above:
that sounds like me...
linux stinks to USE but its ideology is wonderful to HOPE for in future consumer technological products from large corps like ms -
stinks is a bad word to use when refering to linux... sorry

how about - un-polished
thats more what i meant
an un-polished idiological GEM!

Here are my photos from the conference.
Hello came along at just the right time as I used up all my Flickr October uploade limit. -

Hello is a chat client and graphic upload utility for Windows. You can upload your pictures to the Blogger site if you have a blog with them. It runs with Picasa which in my opinion iPhoto cannot even touch it. Picasa is very nice and very user friendly. Its like iPhot plus for Windows. At least Google makes its software available for older versions of Windows and dont force users to upgrade your OS to get security fixes.

Somehow, I feel obliged to quote the movie Contact:
"Why build one if you can build two for twice the price?" -
I use GNU/Linux (Fedora Core) on a regular basis, and who said it was hard to use? I've never seen an easier way of doing things.
Also, the dotGNU project is porting (can we say porting, or reinventing the whole thing?) the .NET framework smoothly, with it's main language being c-sharp, they even got .NET bindings for GTK+.
We could chat about GNU/Linux all day, about every single detail etc, but we're not..
Have a nice day

Its odd because i see where you get this view from, i hate using windows for no other reason than that i can't change most of the settings in a command line.
I find linux far easier to program my j2ee projects on, this is probably that the lecturer who taught us java was a linux nut, so now i find the way windows copes with variables messy and irrattantingly point and click.

Why is channel9 all about crazy British linux nuts? Linux does not come from Britian, only spam comes in my inbox everyday from Britian.

Where are all the crazy British Linux Nuts? Sure there are a few brits here but from those I've seen most of them are open-minded enough to use Linux and Windows when the need arises.
It's funny all the spam I get comes from the US. Weird huh.

Same here all my spam is american, it must be like a foreign exchange scheme.
Probably that special relationship bush and blair keep talking about. -
Before this goes much further and becomes an anti-american or anti-british thread can we get back on topic? Not accusing anyone of anything I can just see where it's heading.
Cheers. -
You have YET to post anything about Google's Hello on this thread dickhead!

I've obviously upset you in some way Eagle. I would appreciate it if you would email me and tell me why so I can apologise if it's necessary

Looks like a pretty neat program. I wonder if it has an "opt out"
. I do not hear a ratchet though.
