if they both can be pluged into the system with a USB cable, could microsoft push an update to 360 with drivers to let people use a PS3 controller?

The PS3 controller does not communicate through USB, always via Bluetooth, the USB cable is used only for charging.

If Sony comes out with good software for configuring the PS3 controller when connected to a PC with Bluetooth then maybe it'll get the XBOX360 people to make some usefull software for their controller. At the moment the Windows drivers for the 360 controller are just that "just drivers". there's no configuration utility to let you set deadzones and setup custom game profiles.
Of course I dodn't know if this PS3 controller is supposed to work on PCs even if you have Bluetooth. -

Why would you even want to use the PS3 control on the 360. The 360 controller is so much more comfortable to use than the horrible playstation controls.
its not that i would use a ps3 controler on a 360. it is can it be done.
