Hello, all! I'm happy today because today I've met DHL courier with VS .Net Express Edition. But now, in process of installation, software tells me that I should install SP1 on my Win XP Home Edition. I have one trouble with it... I have an pirate copy of Windows. SP1 won't work on this version. What should I do? Help me, please. Thanks.

Have you tried to buy an orginal version of Windows XP?
-
Hi Selflex,
Try to find a *good* pirated copy of XP
. It also has the way to install SP1 without XP registration process.
-
That usually fixes the known issue you're reporting.
-
Was this a joke post? It's very funny!
-
Ok, I've already found this way. And what about SP2? Do you know - can it be installed on pirate XP
-
Go buy a legitimate copy of the OS you freakin' cheapskate. Don't be part of the problem.
-
If you can't afford £120 or whatever .. (which a lot of people can't) then I suggest you track down Windows 2000 or Install Linux.
-
Well, selflex, that took some serious "cajones" to post that comment

"Hey, I have a stolen version of Windows, and now I can't install legitimate software on it."
I think the answer is obvious here. -
=) Thank you for this post. It seems to me, that only US resident may buy Win XP in legitimate variant...

I had heard from a friend before that it's not easy to get XP in Russia and the former USSR. I don't know what the answer is though ...

Acording to experts, 97 % of all software in Russia are pirated.
The monthly salary in the science sector is 19 percent higher than across the economy. The average pay is more than 7,000 rubles ($241) a month. On the one hand it may seem that scientists are relatively well-off and that claims about meager financing are baseless. On the other hand one should remember that science workers began to receive relatively high salaries in 1999. Before that their monthly incomes were well below the average salary level across the economy, and this prompted a great outflow of highly qualified personnel from the sector.

According to amazon.com, a home edition will cost your $199, while the pro edition are 279.99
Do anyone expect people to use more than a months salary on buying xp..
I think it was the wrong move to prohibit the service pack installs on non legit xp copys.

22% in the US. One in five copies is pirated. I wonder how they get these numbers, I would have thought that 22% was a little conservative. I'm not taking a dig at anyone in particular and I only base this off what I see in the UK.
