My guess it will be Newt Gingrich as the Republican candidate and Hillary Clinton as the Democrat candidate:

I honestly can't imagine Hillary Clinton winning. But I've been wrong before

Do not pack your bags, she has very high negatives.
Nominated yes- elected-never.
After talk radio get finished with Hillary, Bill will look good!

I've heard rumors that Giuliani might be considering running for office. I think he'd be a very strong contender (more moderate than the "neo-conservative" Bush, et al.)

He is the one to beat and would get the moderate and liberal Republican vote.
He will not get the conservative or libertarian vote in the primaries.
If he does get the nomination, he will beat Hillary hands down in the general election.

-
Well, if you are asking my opinion, which you may or may not be...
I would be inclined to think the strongest contender just might be Mitt Romney.
Conservatives love him and liberals respect him, he doesn't have alot of national political stigma to come back to bite him, and has a good reputation as being level-headed, fiscally and compassionately conservative and has the publicity of heading the SLC Olympics and implementing the most viable and fair 'Universal health Care' plan to date to get the independents, and moderates.
For the other side, I am going way out on a limb and guessing Barack Obama, Wesley Clark or Joe Biden.
Hillary isn't a real option and although the dems won't admit it, they really know it.

in case anyone here didn't know, for months there has been talk about nyc mayor michael bloomberg running as an independent. if he does run it will be as an independent, but there is question about if he really will run. here is a url i found by a quick google search but there are many articles on this

Gingrich running would rock but I don't see it happening. He's a big historian which would make him a good conservative.

I think Obama is too yound and inexperienced. I think Clark, while a good military officer, isn't a politician. I think Biden has some skeletons in his closet and is too boring anyway.
That's not to say that one of them wont get the nod, especially in the absence of someone with a better shot of taking it.

Agreed. I think the Democrats have to keep her happy for now because she and Bill have too much money and power in the party, but deep down they know she's unelectable.
I think the Republican field is wide open. -
I'm still hoping to see John Bolton somewhere on a ticket.
-
I think John Edwards with Clinton as Vice would be a good choice. Would get lots of votes I would think.
-
I'd bet Hillary would make a good Vice President... No one would ever --think-- of letting anything happen to the President.. Worked for both George Bushes as well

Although, I don't see why everyone hates Hillary... It was her husband that was the Adulterer... I think they don't want a woman in the White House, but I might well be wrong. -

Agreed. Hillary is a bit too divisive to win on her own.
Oh, and I almost spit coffee on the screen when I saw John Bolton's name. He'd get as many votes as Michael Bolton. -

The National Health Care initiative that Bill wisely left for someone else to promote -- that's the direction that worries Centrists and Conservatives re: Hillary.
2 years is a long way away...
I like the names Phreaks mentions -- in that very order.
EDIT: my 95 year old grandmother (who slept in Lincoln's bed in the White House 5 times) told me "dear, they have an 'open' marriage -- their marriage was an arranged one for political purposes".
It was the lie under oath that was fait accompli. -

I agree. Dahat must be pulling his own leg. -

You'd change your mind about him if you heard him sing opera like he did in the Children of Bosnia concert with Pavarotti

That's interesting. Now, we're actually hearing more and more moderate conservatives start talking about aNational Health Care initiative. Shoot, with this administration, we just added a massive Prescription Plan to Medicare (which is a National Health Care plan for seniors). And with a lot of companies talking about how health care costs being a huge expense for them, and preventing them from competing in the marketplace effectively (like GM is a great example), I think Nationwide healthcare is looking more and more like a possibility. Probably not in a Canadian style, but I think we'll start seeing changes. Maybe starting off for children and single moms. Who'd vote against children? LOL
