with a bit more fiddling around it seems like it might be a power-mode-change...

i can start a video stream and at first all is ok...

then after a few minutes WHAM!

later I'll try changing some system settings.... I'm thinking the system is trying to sleep or shut of the HDD / Video after a few minutes w/o input and the gfx driver and the OS have a fight.
