This is one reason why I use NGs and OE.  I don't like all that junk in my way. All that fancy page stuff slows me down.  When your focus is reading and posting, nothing beats a simple ng reader.  The forums are a good idea and provide value beyond ngs (i.e. ratings).  But for serious Q&A, use the ngs.
