Interesting. I've never understood why the Beatles are so great and since you've just gotten into them can you tell me why they are good?

I wondered that as well.
The answer is innovation; they took the rock genre to a totally different level in terms of complexity of both musical structure and lyrics. If you listen to the rock of the 1950 you will notice a constant simplicity in the tune, while The Beatles have enhanced it by changing the way the music was constructed.
If you really want to hear one of their best songs, in my opinion, check out the song Eleanor Rigby. as I said before good stuff.
EDIT: This explains it better -
Chris Isaak - Best of
Depeche Mode - Playing the Angel
Robbie Williams - Rudebox
George Michael - Twentyfive -
Lately I've been listening to
Esthero - Wikked Lil Grrls (best sounding album in recent time)
Japan - Oil On Canvas
Paul Desmond - Bossa Antigua
royksopp - melody am (for some reason)
Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase
Stina Nodenstam (all of her stuff)
explosions in the sky - the earth is not a dead cold place
and also Smashing Pumpkins for some reason. -
Helloween and Queen lately

-
Lacuna Coil
Never heard their stuff until recently but now that I have I really like it. Bought two of their albums. Going to buy the rest as soon as I can.

A (mostly) random assortment of classical music, movie and play soundtracks, Ric Blair, Johnathan Coulton, and (contemporary and traditional) hymns. And they're in WAV, MIDI, MP3, WMA, and whatever other formats I may have bumped into.
Yes, I'm musically-obsessed.
At this moment, I'm listening to I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever by Delirious. -
I'm currently listening to an auto-playlist of all music on my computer (on shuffle). It contains: classical, jazz, rock, metal, rap, hip-hop, pop, dance, trance, soundtracks, etc.
Last few tracks:
Tool - Forty six and two
Four Seasons - Oh what a night
Ramstein - Engel
Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the name of
Kill Bill Soundtrack - Battle without honour
Black Eyed Peas (feat Jack Johnson) - Gone Going
Redgum - I was only nineteen
Moby - Body rock
John Farnham - A touch of paradise
Paul Simon - Loves me like a rock
Green Day - Time of your life
And after seeing it mentioned in this thread I'm going to pause my autoplaylist once this song is finished and listen to Delerium - Silence since I haven't heard it in ages (it used to be one of my favourites).
