Notes for Vista install
Make sure you have the VS 2005 SP1 Beta installed (you can get it via http://connect.microsoft.com/). After installing that I was able to install the XNA Game Studio Express 1.0 without any problems in Vista.
I have also run the Space Wars template without any problems. To avoid most possibly problems right click the XNA Game Studio Expression shortcut and click "Run as administrator".

Where is the car racing game template? I can't find it...

This is awesome. Is it safe to simply uninstall Beta 2 and install the final? I couldn't find anything about special instructions for getting rid of the betas in the readme.
Also: keyboard support for Spacewar. I guess I can get rid of my poorly keyboard-enabled version, now. Although adding it yourself was a great way for learning input.

I uninstalled the beta and installed the final
No problems so far.. I'm only curious why the car racing template is missing. I don't know if this has to do with the beta -> final upgrade or is something else. -

I might have to buy an xbox 360 now (and lay off the WoW for a bit
)

You mean XNA Racer, as shown in the Frank Savage video? Was that ever going to be a template, or was it 'just' a showcase for XNA developed by ExDream?
Either way, I'd still like to see a download, just to examine the source and for showing it off. -

He mentioned that it will be included in the final version. -
What's the status of XNA for .net?

You're supposed to get it when you join the XNA Creators Club. Read the last part of the first paragraph. -
Aw man, I got all excited cause I thought 1.0 was gonna support Vista
Oh well, just have to wait till next year. -

I tricked the beta into installing on Vista. I had to run it from an elevated command prompt, just using the UAC elevation dialog when the MSI launched was not enough.
Not sure how the remote debugger and transfer to the xbox would work under Vista. -

I have XNA Express installed on Vista. No problems during install. Run the Visual C# Express with Administrator rights (right click the icon and click "Run as administrator) to avoid most of the problems! -
I was really excited about this until I learned it was "developers only" (my quote, not theres.)
Microsoft XNA Game Studio Express FAQ wrote:
Q: How can I share my Xbox 360 game built with XNA Game Studio Express with other Xbox 360 users?
A: To share your Xbox 360 game with friends, four requirements must be met:- The individual you are planning to share the game with must be logged in to Xbox Live and have an active subscription to the XNA Creators Club
- The receiving user must have downloaded the XNA Framework runtime environment for the Xbox 360
- The receiving user must have XNA Game Studio Express installed on their own development PC
- The game project, including all source and content assets, must be shared with the receiving user. The receiving user then compiles and deploys the game to their Xbox 360.
Haha, yeah, OK, they could have replaced that entire paragraph with, "You can only share your Xbox 360 games with other XNA developers."

Is there a way to trick the install to allowing use of VS2005 Standard or Professional instead of Express?
A registry entry perhaps?
Is there some dependency to Express that is only available through Express that isn't a registry entry?
