That kind of stress would be unacceptable for me.

Probably management. Bonuses get bigger as they thin their ranks.

I kinda doubt it since Microsoft isn't in any financial trouble ATM.

I am 2 - 0 for Christmas Rifs*, (November RIF this year and Last)
I am 2 - 0 for rifs this year,  (June and November Rif)
Over the years, I am fortunate or is that unfortunate to be over 10 - 0. I was in a group where they were Riffing 2 to 3 times a year.


*RIF - Reduction in Force. We get 1 month to find a job then off payroll.

And before you say it, yes, I need a new job.

I hear they tend to lay off half the employees when they acquire a new company (kind of ruins the borg analogies).  Or more accurately, they make the employees go interview for their job.

At most places, instead they get cardboard boxes, a few minutes to box up their stuff, and then an escort out the door.

These guys got a severance package to make anyone jelous, and it was across the board.

When I first saw this topic, I thought ok, He's turned 30. hehe..   Yeah, I got hit by one of those layoffs two weeks before christmas.  I was at a place for 1 1/2 years or so.  I hate when that happens..

Congrats.  If you ever get laid off go into bartending and bouncing.  Very lucrative.  I get paid more than I did in IT, it also doesnt hurt that I own half.
