Yay, I just got Vista Ultimate, and it's cool to finally have the final product. Installation went super smooth.
What bugs me though is the Weather Gaget. If I choose to display regional format as Finnish (Finland) and set Language for non-unicode programs to Finnish (Finland), Vista allows me to view the weather (in English, but still).
If I set my regional format to Swedish (Finland), I am no longer allowed to view the weather, instead Vista sees fit to display "Service not available in your language or region".
It just makes me so mad, so very mad. Who the hell is Redmond to decide for me what languages I can master, or maybe I'm not worthy of the weather unless I speak Finnish?

I'm sure it would only take a few tweaks to change that. The Gadget itself is located in Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets

there's already a modified Weather Gadget on live gallery, where the only difference is that when you click on the city name it brings you to a webpage with forecast information

This is all part of their conspiracy ! They want swedish users to do the hard work and look outside their window for the weather! ... Tell you, BillG is behind all this...

As far as I'm aware there is nobody called Redmond ... There are however a lot of hardworking people who can't account for every single scenario in the world ...
Get real! If you don't like it as it is either let the Vista team know through one of their blogs or write the damn thing yourself, just give us all a break and stop whinging !

Thanks Brian for the tip, but if you are refering to iWeather, then it's excatly the same: no weather for swedish speaking people in Finland... [C]
I just feel so angry, and I don't know who to contact at Microsoft to report this blatant case of injustice. [6] -

I like your attitude, Davemc! I will start programming immediately.
It would be nice however to know how many developers it took to come up with a scheme to enable and disable the weather forcast depending on what language is selected for non-Unicodeprograms, and combine it with the language selected in Date display format.

Most likely their source of weather data doesn't provide data in Finnish... it's that simple.
Everything isn't a conspiracy against you....
