Ok, I just turned 30, but I don't think my eye sight left with the rest of my youth that quick. Does anyone else have a difficult time seeing HTML controls in IE in Vista? I am talking about pages where the controls are on a white background with no
sytling.
If there is any other background color, the default control styles are much easier to see

I'm not a big FireFox user since going to Vista, but at least I can see the controls in FF

I'd try adjusting my monitor... they're a little on the light side here, but they aren't particularly hard to see.

This is on my laptop, so I don't have many external options for adjusting the display. Aside from brightness.

I am glad it is not just me!
I also don't like the way the active item is highlighted in Vista.
In some cases it is almost cases it is impossible to see what the currently active item is especially if multiple things are selected. -
The focus state for checkboxes is practically invisible, which is simply unacceptable in terms of usability. As for other form elements, I have a pretty good contrast ratio on this monitor.

I worry about people like my parents when they switch to vista. There is no way they can see these controls. The worst is a single textbox hidden among text, it just looks like whitespace.
I wonder why the IE team made such drastic changes to HTML controls with little apprent benefit. -
The IE team didn't do anything. They just use whatever style Windows is using.

So does Firefox, but you'll notice IE applies a inset border-style to some of the controls.

I see what you are saying, if I create a blank WinForm with controls on it, they are hard to see too.
