Amusing, and a good piece of work (no doubt done by a professional media company), but I don't get the totalitarian metaphor.
How exactly is the Democratic party more Orwellian than the Republican? I honestly thought it was the other way around. -
So if I don't vote democrat in '08......IBM will win? o.O

Read this book and then you may get the point of the ad:

This video isn't Republican VS Democrat, it is Hillary vs Obama or Democrat vs Democrat.W3bbo wrote:Amusing, and a good piece of work (no doubt done by a professional media company), but I don't get the totalitarian metaphor.

Well, first, its an Obama ad, not a Republican ad.
The point I think is that Hillary represents typical politics, which is controlled by SPIN. Bill Clinton was considered the king of spin, I believe the term came from his campaign.
Some reviewer noted, that the idea of spin is in the Obama ad linked to the control of TV broadcast, and this is going out on the Internet, which makes the point that things are changing.
Of course I think thats a too heavy and pretentious analysis.
But.. not to offend, but honestly W3bbo I think the fact that you think the Republicans are more Orwellian than Democrats is a result of the spin cycle that dominates politics today. Neither party is evil, but both are corrupt and represent some status quo politics. This just happens to be the Republican's turn in power. -
For balance, let us not forget John Edwards:

Add the fact that republicans are conservatives in the USA to the fact that they (neocon(servatives)) seem to want to invade much more of our privacy, I think W3bbo has a point... -

That is because of the Neo-Cons being allied with the Conservative, RIght-Wing Fundamentalists.. The same people who think Homosexuality and sexual immorality should be outlawed, because it is deemed an "Abomination" in the book of Leviticus, yet, they don't seem to mind people who plant two different types of plants in their fields (also an Abomination in Leviticus) and don't push to outlaw eating shellfish (again, an Abomination).
The Left-Wing Liberals of the US are more of a "Whatever you want to do is ok, as long as you don't make us do it", where as the Right-Wing Neo-cons are more "We know what's best and we have the ear of God.. We'll tell you what you can do."
It's funny.. The real conservatives used to be FOR less government in our lives and more personal freedom (like their support to end slavery) and the Democrats were the people trying to lock in what "they thought was right". My, how times have changed.

Am I the only person wondering why she isn't wearing a sports-bra in the apple ad? I mean, they were invented before 1984 weren't they? I thought they were developed for the space race.
Anyway, just wondering, all that bouncing looks painful. -

As opposed to taxing and control anything that moves, which I think is just as bad. If not worse. -

Taxing and controlling..Hmm.
On one side, you have what Fox calls the "Tax and Spend Liberals", and then you have the "Spend, Spend, Spend Right-Wing conservatives. At least those people who tax and spend have some hope of having an even balance sheet. Although, considering that the true Liberals haven't been in power in over 30 years, it's not that you have to worry about it. Most Democrats (yes, even Hillary) are much more "centrist" than the social reformers of the 70's.
Although, people like Dobson and O'Reilly tend to forget that. Let's demonize the woman.. it's fun..

Lovely sentiment, genius, but I don't remember reading much about taxing or spending in 1984.
You know what 1984 is, right?
It's a book by George Orwell.
Hence the term "Orwellian".
How old are you? -

Who in public office wants to put homosexuals in jail?

... which is why I'm a Libertarian. But if I had to pick of the two evils, I wont pick her. NOONE is more evil than her!

Quite a few politicians down in Texas, for one. Do a google search (or Live, if you prefer) for "sodomy Laws" and Texas.. Or Utah, for that matter. Granted, Sodomy by definition isn't just for gays, but you'd never know it, if you read some of the transcripts from the Texas Legislature a while back.
Out of curiousity, why is this SPIN? These are facts, and by definition, facts can be proven or disproven. SPIN is trying to re-define something as a positive when it usually is a big negative. Please be more specific. Granted, I have some very large suspicions why the Neo-Cons are doing this.. But THAT is pure speculation, and I share that privately.

I sense a flamewar coming...
But, why is she perceived as so Evil?? Evil is quite strong (AKA Hitler, etc...). I can see why the neo-cons and fundies hate Bill, being an adulterer (even though Juliani is one X 2), but what did Hillary do to have such negative feelings?
