I wholeheartedly agree with you that Serenity WAS rubbish, but do yourself a favour and grab the original TV series, FIREFLY, on which Serenity was based. The TV series was amazing... it just didn't translate well to film and certain concessions were made to the story and characters that conflicted with the original series.
