Would this be possible?

I guess theres a very few in here, who havent seen the warner bros cartoon, with the wolf i guess it is, and the roadrunner.

Basically the idea is that the wolf have this portable hole he can put on the floor, which the roadrunner would fall into.

Are we ever gonna see this outside cartoons? I think that would be really cool!

As I recall Wile E. Coyote was always inevitably the one that suffered the brunt of the failed plan. So in order to produce a product that follows the same line of thinking one would first..
 
1: Have to figure out how to get s/he who puts the hole down to eventually fall into it.

2: Have the targeted passer by seamlessly float/walk on air as they pass over said hole.

3: Have the targeted passer by stop over top of the hole (in mid air mind you) and scream Beep!! Beep !!.

We may be better of to start with the anvil drop of the high cliff product, not forgetting to provide the rope with which to tie the ankle of s/he who decides to drop it. Or, perhaps the roller-skate rocket attachments (always fun for parties).

Well, it is probably possible, but unlikely at the moment.

Would a machine be able to simply vapourise the material in a hole shape? If so, one could carry this around and create holes. However it would leave these holes, so it wouldn't be like the cartoon if I remember correctly.



It seems pretty far-fetched to be honest.

It would be hard to displace all of the sediment the portable hole is "replacing" without making the roadrunner suspicious.

Not really, no.

Such a device would have to be massive[1], it would be a gravity-well. Whilst you could, hypothetically (as of yet, unproven), create a moveable dent in spacetime that things could fall into, it would attract anything with any appreciable mass near it (similar to a black-hole, but without an event-horizon)

[1]"massive" meaning "lots of mass", not size. We're talking denser than a neutron star
