Somebody save Dvorak!

APPLE FANBOYS have really been going for hack John C Dvorak after one of his sources in Cingular told him the iPhone's batteries lasted just 40 minutes.
Somebody save Dvorak!

This is information from "A guy." "Guys" are not usually reliable news sources. Also, the thing isn't even out yet.

nobody knows if the information is reliable or not however it's amazing to see fanboys trying to discredit Dvorak as a reporter and saying that there's something wrong with people that use their phones for more than 40 minutes.

40 minutes. Really. Come on. What use would 40 minutes be to anybody? It's a phone, I expect it to have at least comparable to battery life of a smartphone.

Of course it's not reliable - come on 40 minutes? Dvorak has a long history of trolling the Macintosh community, purely for the pageviews. He's even admitted it on camera. The fact that so many fall for it, and continue to link to him, is just sad.

I don't always agree with Dvorak... sometimes he's a little too liberal for me. However, if Dvorak says the iPhone has a battery life of 40 min, then it is probably true... that is, if he did really say it. Apple people need to wrap arround their heads that not everything Apple does is
1) innovative
2) the best
3) practical
In this case here is the score
Dvorak: 1
Apple: -40 min

it could be possible: thin phones like the motorola v3x have very short talk times (in the case of the v3x it's 144 minutes) and in this case we're talking about a phone that not only is extremely thin but it also has a very large touch-screen LCD (consumes a lot of power and wastes a lot of space) and runs a very complex OS. who knows...

I don't know what these people who are saying "Oh, 40 minutes of talk time to enough" are smoking. As a consultant with more than one client, I burn through 40 minutes by lunch! -

The iPhone hasn't even reached full-scale production yet, there's loads of plausible explanations why the battery life on these models is terrible.

40 minutes makes sense if you're actually sitting there playing with apps on the phone given it's size and the size of the LCD, however it still probally has a 6-8 hours of standby time and maybe 1-2 hours of talk time if its configured properly.

40 minutes wont fly for any electronic device.
Does Apple have any idea how long teenage girls talk on the phone?
My 14 year old cousin says that her average call lasts 1-2 hours and that 3 hours happens frequently when her boyfriend calls.
While, I'd never talk that much (I hate talking more than I must), lots of people do (social butterfly). -

I know its 100% off topic but are you the Jason Cox that created the IRC trivia bot?
[edit] and 40 mins battery life is USELESS and if it is true, then something has gone very wrong... also whoever said something about big LCD screen - it goes off after a certain amount of time right?
