I'm thinking of doing a semester abroad... But I'm not completely sure...
What do you think: Is doing a semester abroad something that should be done?
Which university do you think is good (which one should I take into consideration)?
Thanks for all the feedback!

A few friends of mine studied abroad and they all loved it - most of them were language students though.
I imagine you should pick the country you'd like to stay in first. -

Let's pick US or UK... I was browsing the MIT, Harvard and Princeton web sites, but I don't know: First it costs quite some money to study there (but they seem to offer a financial aid program) and second I haven't seen them to offer anything that looks like a "semester abroad program".
Has somebody here done a semester on one of these three universities?
I would love to do the semester abroad on an exciting university with excellent courses. Otherwise I don't see any benefit. Or am I wrong? -
Cornell has an excelent CS program, a good friend of mine goes there, though she's in plant science.

Other than the fantastic British weather?
Well, there's employment opportunities in the country of your choice, and the opportunity to practice your already excellent English.
Sadly I can't recommend any particular Universities in England, Nottingham's CS department is in nifty buildings; but the only people I know who studied CS there complain about most things anyway, so I don't think I have a realistic impression. I know someone who was studying CS at Oxford, but I'm not sure how much of his brilliance was natural and how much was taught.
I can recommend avoiding Loughborough like the plague, but I can't think of a reason it would even cross your mind. -

Thanks! I'm going to write them an e-mail.

Ye. My problem is also that universities seem to not offer student exchange programs for one semester. Right now I got an e-mail back from Princeton and they said that I need to do a full master's degree there (and that I can only start in fall).
I would just like to do one semester! -

Usually that would be something that would be organised by the institution that actually gives you your degree, becuase they have to ensure that it covers the relevant topics to a suitable level etc.
As far as recommendations in the UK go, naturally I have to recommend the University of East Anglia. -

My problem is that my university has only an interesting partnership (from my standpoint) with "The City College of New York". I don't know how good that university is... For all other universities I need to do the administrative things on my own. They refund me some of my expenses, but that's all. -
Come kick it at the UofA
1)Warm weather
WED
85°F 29°C
48°F 8°C
2)150 Bachelor programs
3) And um....other appealing reasons

I spent a semester at Kansai Gaidai in Japan (short for Kansai Gaigokugo Daigaku = Kansai Foreign Language University).
But then again I was a Japanese minor and loved the culture and language.

What Semester? That is, I'd recommend choosing the right location based on Earth's proximity to the sun (also known here on the ground as seasons...).
UC Berkeley comes to mind as a very good choice any time of the year.
Only go to Cornell in the Spring. Trust me...
Carnegie Mellon in the Spring.
MIT in the Spring.
Stanford any time of year.
ETC.
Good luck. You should do this! Explore the world.

I got an answer from Princeton. They offer non degree programs for students that want do just a term there. That's something that I would like.
Princeton sounds very much fun.
If I go somewhere I would love to go somewhere were I have some fun with some really smart people. I want to learn!

If you're interested in UK universites check out whether your university is a part of the SOCRATES or ERASMUS scheme. It's essentially a european exchange programme for uni's.
Some good uni's to check out for CS in the UK: Durham, Manchester, Brunel, University College London
