I notice that of late due to excessive use of mice, my hands are getting stressed out. Just wondering what mouse you guys use at work.
edit: found this software which tracks mouse and keyboard usage and alerts u to take some rest. Probably might be useful

logitech, 2button-scroll-optical mouse...
-
I use a Microsoft USB optical wheel mouse. It works just fantastico.
I use a mouse pad still because it has my name on it. Yeaaahh! -
Black optical intelli. I got it from newegg with a batch of stuff. Its rugged and very generic, and as such blends in transparently with just about any peripheral set. To lessen hands stress I use a mouse and wrist pad with a piece of white legal folded in half under the mouse. The sucker glides like its a puck on an air hockey board.

MS Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. The batts seem to last for freakin' ever. I work from home and use this thing tons, 7 days a week.
-
Didn't MS used to have a trackball? I only ask because I'm looking for one to see if it helps with my carpal tunnel

A best practice is to learn to be ambidextrous.

I am using a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0, which I have found it great. I like the smooth scrolling, and it has yet to fail on me. (Although the paint is now fading where my hand rests on it).

Hi Yes they did used to do a very nice trackball, tried to get one ordered when I joined my current employer last year but found it had been discontinued. Had to order a logitech TrackMan Wheel http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/GB/EN,CRID=2150,CONTENTID=5002 instead. Does the job and is similar to one I use at home.
Good trackballs are hard to find. You might find one of the MS Trackballs on ebay tho. -
I love the Logitech VX Revolution. The flywheel scrool is extremely handy for browsing large documents, web pages, and most importantly, code (though some might argue long code is bad code).
The size is big enough for everyday desktop use, but also packs away neatly in my laptop case...rf transmitter stores inside the mouse. It's shaped optimally for right-handed operation, but I have no problem using it on the left instead, sans easy access of "back" and "forward" buttons.
It's not particularly responsive by gaming standards, but the fly wheel can be grounded with the "microgear" setting in the back to revert to standard click operation.
Some people are getting it for less than $10, too.

Is it not too small?? I bought a v200 yesterday to replace my lab comp, but it is too unconfortable as it is small . -

Not for me, and I have a fairly large hand. I was expecting it to be smaller than it is. My other mouse is a Logitech MX1000 bluetooth mouse (also great sans fly wheel), and I don't ever get annoyed at switching between them.

At home it's a Logitech G5 mouse, and what a brilliantly smooth thing it is too.
At work it's a "Dell by Microsoft" intellimouse bog standard two button job.
I always wanted, and still want - but lack the electronics know-how to prototype - a mouse with a track ball built in for fine control (perhaps it could switch from scroll to fine control and back again so it can be used as a mouse whell too.) -

I use whichever mouse is plugged in ....
I like a good wireless mouse, though.
I don't seem to have a problem with carpal tunnel, possibly because my cronic back-pain kicks in before I can really strain my mousing arm ...
