Saw this... amusing ![]()
Potentially NSFW, depends on how prudent your company environment is.
EDIT:
Found another in a similar vein, possibly a little more NFSW.
But in all seriousness, Ubuntu's CD wallet did feature nudes back in the early days, so here's
a Demotivator-style one.

Been trying Ubuntu a bit, It's sooo 1990s / win9x... in short : Crap. Can't believe there is so much "buzz" about it on the Internet.
I guess it's just "cool" to hate Vista these days.

I've used the K desktop environment on Ubuntu GNU/Linux since `Edgy' was in open beta. It's always looked as good as XP, and slightly better then Vista if you sacrifice all or a large part of your video hardware to rendering the display. That said, if you are getting a '90s feel to your Ubuntu desktop you shouldn't be using it.
I don't use GNU/Linux out of dislike for Vista. I've seen it and it looks just fine and dandy. In the simplest terms, I won't use Vista because I do not have access to the source with which to prove or disprove that it is or is not performing according to my wishes. I don't care how good it looks or how anything else compares to it.

I've been running Linux for a few years now and my current opinion on the topic is that there's no particularly strong selling point for desktop Linux for the average Windows "power user"/gamer.
I think the best use for Linux in this situation is as a LAN server. I've been running Linux headless without any GUI installed for almost 2 years and it's really indispensable now. It handles Windows file sharing through Samba, DNS proxy, runs some web applications for things like Subversion, MySQL admin, and a wiki that I use as a "notepad". It also serves as a gateway into my home LAN when I'm at school and lets me get at NAT'ed Windows machines remotely. This list just scratches the surface. Having run Windows Server 2003 for over a year at home, I'd say that Linux is definitely the more useful of the two. There are Linux packages for every conceivable function, such as home automation systems, that are installed in a standard, easy to use way. -

Fixed that for you.

Hardly. Try the latest distributions of Ubuntu sometime and enable Beryl/Compiz, you'll wonder why Vista is so far behind.
And the Digg-crowd is all groupthinking great things about Ubuntu and can't resist posting anything that slags off Vista, I've never seen a "Vista == hip" implication anywhere.

Meh, folks at beryl/compiz still haven't heard of subsampling with interpolation nor anti-aliasing. That's why Ubuntu looks so great with Ati Rage cards on blurred YouTube videos.

Oh good, an expert. The source for compiz unstable is up on their homepage. Let me be the first to invite you to add the features you think are missing to the software.

Since when should user himself be responsible for missing features? I don't have time to fix their problems. -

I am using Ubuntu 7.04 to type this (I am on holiday and thus I am away from my usual computer) and I can say that it is actually a very useful and good operating system. I will be using it with my new computer (in a few months) and I really can't see any part of the change that I will regret (other than a few, very small pieces of software not being available for Ubuntu, and even then I am sure I can find alternatives).
I disagree with people who hate Windows because it is "cool" or "good" to do so as I really believe that Windows operating systems are great (I feel that people seem to have negative feelings towards them, simply because they think it is what they should think).
Ubuntu is a great operating system, that I feel is very useful for people. Recently I was showing it to my Dad, and he seemed to understand it pretty well without a massive knowledge of computers. The simple fact that Ubuntu comes with all the software the average user needs makes it a great choice for some people (although compatability is still and issue, however it is becoming less of one every day).
As for the original post (by W3bbo), I have seen those images before, but when was there nudity on the case? (I am interested as I have all of the cases that have been released since the 5.10 release (including the different colours for Mac, 64 bit, and also 32 bit computers). I have heard about this before, but I have never researched it.

I thought he did.
NSFW = Not Safe For Work.
Does it not?

I'd never associate "thinking" with the Digg crowd. But yeah, Compiz is full of eye candy, but no where near Vista's desktop compositing in terms of software and hardware compatibility, stability, or performance. And the Windows DWM is still 1.0.
Case in point, I can have several complex 3D apps running on my desktop simultaneously in both D3D and OGL, at full frame rates, all remoted over a TS connection, under Vista. Under Compiz, its near impossible to even find driver support for indirect rendering. And there's no kernel GPU scheduler like Vista's for letting multiple 3D apps run smoothly simultaneously. -

Okay, so it wasn't "total" nudity, but the three models on the covers of the Late-2004 cases (Warthog releases, I understand) were topless models. Shame they were all male

As Angus said, I marked them "NSFW" which is the de-facto method of tagging evil links (the rival camp uses "NWS"). Then there's also "NMS" = "Not Mind Safe" (i.e. clean, but will probably make your skin crawl).

True, but clarity is needed for things like this. Not everyone knows every l33t acronym out there.
It's not often we get a post with nudity, but a stronger title would be been nicer. Something like:
"They say Ubuntu's color is poo-ish...(Not Office Friendly)"
Having some NSFW next shoved in the text block just won't cut it for some people. -
I had Feisty 7.04 installed for several days. Listening to internet radio, watching movies, all great, word processing no problems. And then it comes to gaming. There are a couple emulation programs that allow you to run "some" windows games on Ubuntu 7.04, but Linux overall has along way to go when it comes to gaming, but I will admit that the Ubuntu program has just exploded with its developement and progress.. In comparison to the Longhorn/Vista project in length of start to finish compared to Ubuntu, there isn't much of a comparison. This open source project hopefully will eventually take gaming to new heights that Linux has never seen before. I was a big SuSE 10.2 guy for a while but they have slowed down their developement so much. Too bad.

I fixed that up a bit for you. Since no one at Ubuntu has done anything explicit for compatibility with Windows binaries whatsoever, unless they have worked on both WINE and Ubuntu purely coincidentally.

Pedantry doesn't address the issue. I've played with desktop Linux off and on over the years, and it's certainly come a long way, but there are still too many places where it's been stuck at "almost there" for some time.

LMAO. Pendantry? It doesn't address the issue you perceive because there is no issue. The answer is self-evident. The sources to GNU/Linux software and WINE are available for download on the internet. You aren't paying anyone to write it for you, and the people who are developing that software have no moral or ethical obligation to write it for you. So that leaves you with the choices of writing it yourself, paying someone else to write it for you, or using just the software where the developer actually is obliged to you.

Stop making silly excuses for missing needed features in foss products.
What if I say that generally all current operating systems have bad design. Should I then make new one. I have the right to complain.
(and I deny the necessity of "GNU" in front of Linux. Or if you want to use it then also add "MIT" and "BSD" because it's common for average distro to include loads of mit and bsd licensed code)
