So, better than Hawkins and nowhere near as good as Surface ?
Shame.

Well, at least iTunes Plus is a real product.
BTW, what's Hawkins? -

CEO of Palm announcing anotebookphone companion that lets you type phone emails on a full size keyboard. Looks pretty lame, or more accurately a Notebook PC with no features.

I will make a wild guess, most of the guys who own an ipod + itues wont spend 30 cents more. Many actually wont know the difference and will not be interested in spending more money

I have iTunes and an iPod, and I spent $21.00 this week in iTunes for protected music...upset me. Now that (some) iTunes music is DRM-Free, I might be spending even more money with them. I was honestly about to go and buy CD's again instead of buying off the internet because of the limited forced onto me.
iTunes says you can play your music on 5 machines - I hated that. They used m4p formats, I hated that too. If DRM is stripped off of much of their music, I'll be so happy
-
What I find much more interesting is that the music publisher balance the risk of people pirating their music to about $0.30 / song.
This is a extreme reversal of their DRM-free-music?-over-my-dead-body stance. -

Wow. I wasn't expecting much from Palm's mystery announcement, but.. this is incredibly underwhelming. -
Curious why their iTunes Plus links me to a French site (I'm in the States). I'm very curious how many DRM-free offerings they have of any interest to me, 60's - early 90's.
Anyway, when MS does their deal with the recording studios for their DRM-free music I'll be on a Zune like hair on a bear. Otherwise, I'm waiting for Zune 2.0, or whatever they'll call it. -

Too bad for them. There's still plenty of us that understand what this means and will gladly pay 30 cents more. -
www.allofmp3.com
www.legalsounds.com
Cheaper (and have always been better) than iTunes. Both produce a lot of spam though, so set up a new email account just for that - you'll end up going craaaaazy with the spam. -

It's the distributing of music that's illegal, but once it's publicly available, it's legal.

And you live...? Im considering migrating
But for 9cents per song and 50p an album, its hardly difficult to decide whether to buy a £10 CD or the same thing for 50p... Soon enough you'll be able to go into shops with an SD card and download music straight
onto it... Or use that Screentouch (may have goten it wrong) thead somewheerre nearby.
PS: on a mates pc and its very laggy so i cant really type well... i type something, 30 seconds later, it shows up.

I have asked the following question before in different forums, but for some odd reason, have not received an answer back (other than some weird comments that had nothing to do with the question). I use a subscription service (Urge), and would like to know how to do a specific operation on an iPod. Maybe someone here can answer this for me:
I'd like people to try this on their iPod and tell me what the experience is like:- Go to iTunes, search for "Rolling Stones" (in Urge I get 1 artist, 54 albums, 746 songs).
- Select whatever option you need to list all songs organized by album.
- Now select all of them (I used Ctrl-A to select all 746 songs)
- Select the option to "Add to Playlist". Add all songs to a playlist.
- Drag the playlist to your iPod (or whatever you do to get it there).
- Go make yourself some coffee while you wait for the 746 songs to download and transfer to your iPod.
- When it is done, disconnect your player and listen to every song the Stones ever created.
Yes, many of those songs are repeated across albums, but do I care? Did I pay one penny extra to get every song, organized as it would on every single album of theirs. No, I didn't pay one penny extra, just my montly subscription.
So I would like to hear back from the iPeople to see how those steps work in iTunes (been a long time since I've used iTunes).
Thanks for any feedback!

You do realize that allofmp3.com's legal status isn't entirely clear.

I do yes, i assumed it had been taken out by DRM people, but when i saw it was online again I thought it might still be active... ive pretty much migrayted to LegalSounds now anyways

Plus, for the $0.30, they're also doubling the bitrate... Jobs' RDF must be at work in EMI's executives.

And any site calling itself "legalmp3s" probably isn't.
