I predicted Romney back in February

He's still the guy I would put my money on, If I were a betting man.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I'm not so sure.. On paper, he has the Conservative credentials many evangelical Christians want.. But the conservative Evangelicals I know (and I know quite a bit...) say they would NEVER vote for a Mormon. They'd rather not vote at all, per them.
Kinda like Planned Parenthood and Operation Rescue: both would agree that Spouse Abuse is abhorent... But they would never join forces to prevent it.
YMMV
I don't understand all the flak he is catching due to his faith.
This is America, right?
Everyone pretty much agree's that discrimination is wrong, right?
So, why is EVERYONE so biggoted towars him due to his faith?
Even the liberals, who preach tolerance in every opther aspect seem justified in vilifing a person due to his religous beliefs....
Hypocrites, all of them.
It actually makes some sense, from the Conservative Christian view.. Christians, of the Dobson / Falwell (well, not anymore) / Robertson ilk believe that the New testament is infallable and the "Last Word" (quite literally) in religious matters. Mormons add their own book, which is completely unacceptable. Mormons also, from their point of view, don't buy 100% into the concept of Grace as well (which I'd argue that neither do the aforementioned Conservative Christians). Probably most important is missionaries: most Mormons I know (I know a few, not as many CC'ers I know) have done overseas missions work, spreading the Mormon gospel. This competes directly with CC'ers missions (which also occur, but not in the same numbers). It boils down to faith, really.
I see why CC'ers won't vote for a Mormon. I, personally, wouldn't vote for a Mormon, or a Dobsonite, despite considering myself an evangelical, although I am of the type that doesn't try to hold non-Christians up to Christian values. For that, I'm branded a Liberal, despite having a strong faith in Jesus.
In regards to your comment to liberals vilifying a person to his religious beliefs, there are some who definately hate all religion and people who practice any religion. However, most that I know only vilify those who push their religion and religious rules upon others.
YMMV....
Thanks Jack / John, but being a Mormon maybe I can clear it up a little.
"Mormon add there own book, which is completely unacceptable." - Funny thing about that is that’s exactly what the Jews felt like when the New Testament came along. Something along the lines that the old testament is enough and is Gods complete word:)
"don't buy 100% into the concept of Grace" - We believe we are saved by grace after all we can do. We feel it takes some effort on our part much like in Matt. 7, especially vs. 21-27:
21¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 ¶ Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.
"However, most that I know only vilify those who push their religion and religious rules upon others." - Guess that you don't like the 12 Apostles either. Since that was there main mission after Christ.
"Golden Bible" - How do you suggest storing records around 2600 years old in the ground, I think I would use a metal that doesn't rust:) You also forgot to mention the Urim and Thumim which I think are far more interesting - spoken of in the old testament
and used to translate the 'Golden Bible'![]()
"Polygamy" - Funny thing about that is that Romney is the only one who has had 1 wife:) McCain - nope. Giuliani - nope.
Let me summarize Mormonism: We believe that the 2nd coming of Christ is near. We believe the a falling away from Christ church occurred as spoken of in 2nd Thes. and that the 2nd coming wouldn't happen until them. We believe that God would do anything without a prophet as spoken of in Amos (Surely the Lord God will do nothing but he revealith his secrets to his servants the Prophets). So God followed the same pattern that he did with the Jew. They had fallen away from the truth. They didn't have prophets anymore. He sent people to prepare for his Son's coming. Son wanted everyone to know his word. Apostles lead the church until there all killed. New scripture is written (New Testament). Ok now its getting time for the 2nd coming of Christ. Christians are going in 1000 directions from just confessing Jesus to be save to other more traditional ideas (ie Cathlic/Church of England etc). No prophets. God called a prophet to restore the truth to prepare for the 2nd coming (Joseph Smith to Gordon Hinckley today). More Scripture added to help in the confusion and to testify of Christ in this skeptical times. It has followed the same pattern as before.
Now the Scribes, Pharisees, Sadducees all rejected the truth that was restored through John the Baptist, Jesus Christ and the Apostles. Its your choice but at least you will get one. Sorry for those who don't want religion here, I agree but with all the
misinformation I just thought I would set it straight a little. If you want the full story email me off line.
Romney inherited a debt ridden olympics filled with problems and turned it to be one of the best olympics ever and guess what - IT MADE A PROFIT:) Sounds like someone we need in office to me. To may spenders. Government can't support everyone and does very
little efficiently!
