Hi guys,

thanks

Never taken a photo of a fast F1 car, but I can share a few things that do come to mind:
Factors to keep in mind
- Point and Shoot cameras tend to be quite slow for any serious sports photography (that includes F1). So you'll definately want to have a Digital SLR camera (you should be ok with entry level DSLRs)
- You will likely be sitting far from the action, so you'll need a long'ish telephoto lens.
- It'll take a lot of practice to get your shots "right" (eg: like how you pictured it in your mind).
Here's an interesting article: http://www.andylees.com/shooting_f1/shooting_f1.html

Two different techniques: blurred background, pan camera keepng it on car and take picture 1/1000th of a second.
Blurred car: 1/125th of a second
Remember that your f stop setting will determine the depth of field.
Photography is more of an art than a technical process. -
The camera hardware has a lot to do with it. Fast autofocus is a must.
Also the more open your lens (F-stop wise) the faster you can focus.
If your using manual focus the cars are so fast that its would be near impossible to get a good shot unless you get you fixed focus point down and have an insance shutter speed.

I didn't do (try really) any of thos blurr speed pix due to my cameras slow autofocus. I will pick up a D200 to replace my outdated D70 before the nex ALMS. -
thanks for the tips guys
