The only thing that matters is that we love others as ourselfs.  If you truely loved others there would be no theft, no hate crimes, no drug babies, no children being raised in poverty by a single parent.  Religious people fail in this just like atheists.  If your whole focus in life is 'me' and getting more stuff then likely it doesn't matter whether you believe in a God or not.  Society is suffering from the ills of selfishness.  You can't name one ill of society that can't be fixed with unselfish love.  I believe in God and I know for a fact that it helps me to love my fellow men better.  I'm not perfect though, "Shut up some of you pin heads:)".  You can choose for yourself what you do but I believe the best society that will help us all, with hope, comes from loving one another.
