Sting! The biggest software counterfeiting bust in history

More than 1,000 customers in 12 different countries who had purchased counterfeits from this particular source used WGA to learn their software was counterfeit, submitted the counterfeits to Microsoft, and forensic and intelligence specialists then traced the counterfeits back to the criminal syndicate in China.  Windows customers using WGA actually helped bring down the biggest software counterfeiting operation in history, as without their help, it's possible that this piracy operation would never have been apprehended.

The goal of WGA goal is not to punish the people who purchased these programs -- they are in fact victims -- but rather to give them a tool that both lets them know they have been victimized and a way to do something about it.

I don't know. Which one is genuine?

Both of my Vista disks look like blank DVDs, except for a big black perma-ink handwritten "Windows Vista x86" and "Windows Vista x64" respectively.

The one with the picture embedded on it of the Microsoft employees.

I'm going to  say that the one on the left is genuine. I honestly can't tell, but the label on disk number 2, looks off centre; could have been stuck on by someone in a hurry.

The label also looks slightly faded, like someone's printer was running out of ink ....

I seriously doubt the Chinese have mastered a technique that allows them to copy microscopic images on a dvd wich till a couple of months ago, nobody knew existed.

Unless these puppies came rolling off the actual production line. But then, how did they fail WGA?

The comment was actually a small joke on my part (haha). As a consumer you cannot tell the diference between the two. Unless the fake one is about 1/2 the price.

Actually, it's at the top of page 2. It -was- on page 3 when you posted this thread, which suggests that you did see it there after all when posting your own thread.

But I'm sure you missed it. Obviously you wouldn't do something like waiting until a thread drops to page three before posting a link to your own blog, right?

I imagine a long-running disagreement between Eagle and his (many) detractors is at the root of the sweet transvestites from transsexual transylvania, u-huh... The one on the right is fake, for those that can't be bothered to look at the WGA blog.

You say "WGA knew the difference", but in reality, WGA looks at the CD key, not at the disk. I know because I have Vista on a home-burned disk that is WGA doesn't particularly care about.
