I can't set my monitor resolution to 1400x1050 @ 50Hz.
I'm currently stuck with 1280x1024 plus black borders on my screen ![]()
Please Help.
*I'm using Windows XP Professional Edition.
*I've installed the latest video driver from www.lenovo.com
*I've also installed IBM LCD 1400x1050 driver.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*My video card is ATI FireGL V3200 256MB
* Driver version is 8.362.0.0.
1400x1050 @ 50Hz mode is not supported by the latest driver I installed. I've asked AMD ATI Online Support.. They said Lenovo has the latest driver. I've also tried Lenovo online support two weeks ago, but they haven't replied me. So I figure Lenovo does not
have a solution for me.
When I uninstalled my video card driver, the resolution problem is fixed.. I tried working w/o the video card driver installed ..
But each time I start my laptop, it asks me to install the driver.. It's very annoying..

Have you tried using a tool like reschange or using reg hacks like this one? -
Display settings (resolutions) are defined in the driver inf file. Have you looked at it to see if 1400x1050 exists as an option?
Depending on which video card it is, you might check on ATI's website as well to see if they have a mobility driver for you. -
I've tried setting the resolution to 1400x1050 manually. It failed.

There is a tool that forces resolution and refresh rates called PowerStrip that I often use with LCD TVs that don't support 1:1 mapping however it's very dangerous and could damage your video card and monitor.
