Anyone played with tafiti, the silverlight Live Search engine?
http://www.tafiti.com/
I just made it my default search engine... Not sure how it will perform but i think it looks promising

Are you using linux?Chinmay007 wrote:Interesting idea. Looks like some web 3.0 idea.
EDIT:
Doesn't seem to load, gives me this error:
"Silverlight requires Windows or Mac OS X"
The version of Silverlight that is working for me is: 1.0.20816.0 -
You guys have to try the Tree View in full screen mode, very beautiful... not sure how useful it is

Or Firefox with a non-admin account of some kind?

Interesting, any way. Doesn't seem useful at all, but it is pleasing to the eye. The ability to drag links and searches to the glass pane is interesting. -
A few problems i've found so far:
- Scrollwheel doesn't work
- URL doesn't appear in status bar when you mouse over a link
- Put the description under the title and dont "..." out the title
- The scrollbar cut the description text off
- I personally dont like the wood clipboard type desgin...
- As i dont think i would ever use the saved search section, i think it should be a click and expand section (like the to-do bar in office 2007).
-
My main gripe with it:
Whenever I do a search (Google, MSN, etc), I quickly scan through the results and middle-click on any result link that looks interesting. This opens a new tab for each one I click on, without changing focus to the new tabs. This way I pick all the relevant-looking links while still in the same frame of mind and know I will eventually get to them, and not be distracted by any one link and then forget about checking the remaining interesting links.
Gripe? I can't find any way to open the results from Tafiti in a new tab. It insists that you left-click on the results and therefore force a completely new browser window to pop up - how annoying!
This is part of my gripe with SilverLight - it seems they succumbed to the lowest common denominator and only give you "a mouse button" as opposed to left/right/middle/ buttons (and scroll wheel). This is 2007 - we have moved well past 1 button mice a long time ago.
I hope this is just developers creating SilverLight apps that don't implement support for additional mouse button functionality rather than SilverLight only supporting one button from the start. -

... Same goes here.

nice silver light app - I wish I could get my silver light dev environment working ...

Its really very nice.
A vey nice example of how Silverlight can make things beautiful and interesting.
Still playing around. Those stacks to store our search is very nice and the search carousal is also too good categorizng search.
While in image search in the 'filter these results", if the new Image search filters are applied like :bw, : portrait, :faces here also then it'll be nice.
It can be applied in main search of tafiti though.
Does anybody remember ms. dewey ? A search tool from Microsoft released few yeras ago based on flash?
But I could easily say Tafiti is much more beautiful and cooler and better than ms.dewey. -
Is it so much to ask to have a <noscript> element? Obviously. Lack of care/interest there, I only see a blank black screen by default because I run with noscript.
-
Oh not good, even after closing the tab containing the Silverlight control, firefox is taking 50% of CPU.

Silverlight right mouse = no options ruins it
you search to find stuff - to copy it and paste it - or find stuff and save it / copy it
The scrollwheel not working and the absence of other right mouse options make it a non starter to me
*nice opening screen - then it launches .. pink, dirty school paper? Faux wallpaper wood? er...
edit: also bizzare flickering when clicking the icons.. perhaps it wasnt tested on 3 monitor set ups ..who nos -
Totally agree, right click should be a priority, not just in this app but in all of Silverlight.jamie wrote:Silverlight right mouse = no options ruins it

I've got a 3 monitor setup and haven't experienced any flickering..jamie wrote:edit: also bizzare flickering when clicking the icons.. perhaps it wasnt tested on 3 monitor set ups ..who nos
