It will have a LCD, a Cable Management System, a Quick Game Launch button, two vertical side buttons, a (finally!) dented scroll wheel and weight balancing!
What's more? It will only cost $70 just a bit more than the habu gaming mouse and far less than most gaming mouses from other producers!
Can't wait to have one!

I thought Microsoft shelved the Sidewinder brand after the launch of the Xbox 360, on account of joysticks not being popular and the Xbox controller working on PCs.
What happened to their partnership with Razer? -

I donno how people on engadget can call it sexy. It is nowhere closer to even good

I wonder if someday Apple will release a touchscreen-based button-less mouse because of Jobs' fear of hardware buttons.

I still have a microsoft strategic commander laying around. It had so many buttons configuring it to a game was more of a challenge then playing the game with it.
But when you got your setup right, it was a good asset.
Good to see Microsoft building some new ideas in the hardware section. -

Maybe someone could do a Wii style controller out of brass knuckles (base design) ..maybe even a ..weird..mouse

*youd push down toward hand on any given finger
That looks like something mazie'd wear.

*updated above.
If you rest your fist on your mouse pad - not tight - just loose - ..it might work
*just the fact that your hand is twisted down when using a normal mouse is reason enough to attempt it?
edit: forgot "Fire" button on top (for thumb)
..so if you had 2 of them on - in front of tv (or computer) .. you could do the tom cruise thing...and still be lazy
edit 2: Microsoft Brass Knuckles
..id buyem!
edit 3: release (after that) a radio brush for the tablet (real hairs) a radio palette knife.. digital "tools" for artists
edit 4: ..and you still need painter and corel draw /photopaint to round out expression.. you could have a box with tablet pc - with digital brushes all tuned to painter. goodbye wacom. goodbye all bogus hard plastic stylus input devices. *picture palette knife tip made out of very light, bendable - but TOUGH material. pressure sensitive
ZAP .. oops real world... guess we wait 5 years -

I must confess that when I first saw the photos of this I thought "That looks really uncomfortable", closely followed by "It looks like something out of Star Wars".

my g0rd ...it is an abomination
its like the answer to the G5.. which is also a fairly ugly mouse itself.. and selling these mice with extra weights lol.. its not like they are heavy enough.. i own both the logitech G5 and the new+old MS 3.0 mice and a few others, the best mouse I have ever liked is the MS 3.0 gaming one(not that fat explorer one) it has a brilliant feel to it ergonically prefect tbh... and yet it feels so cheap...so wish they had just enhanced the new 3.0 with a few extra buttons like sensitivity buttons maybe a small lcd, but keeping in with the shape, improved the quality of the buttons/mousewheel..it really does feel cheap plasticy and noisy when using the wheel/buttons, but it still is nice mouse.. the G5 on the other hand is also a nice mouse, its got more build quality than the 3.0 actually, but the whole adding extra weights thing is stupid.. they don't need more weighting down its just a silly sales gimmick.. and for gamers by gamers bullshit...many of these peripheral hardware companies are adding in the markting blurb.. they need to sack those n00b gamers they keep asking to design their products! ....look at it...
