Well I got lloydhumphreys.com and my first though was of having hosting. Then my second thought was of having email that worked with MSN. Now that I've set this up (lloyd [at] domain.com) I've done some stuff to get it to work with messenger.
It works fine, but it says "Unverified address" over on my contacts side. Okay, cool, whatever, I'll just verify it. Or not. I click File > Verify Email and it goes to the page. It emails it to my new email (lloyd [at] domain.com) which is set to forward to
my existing email, because 1&1 don't give me email hosting, just addresses (from what I know. If I set the email not to forward, it wont let me go to an inbox or sign into 1&1 webmail).
So cool, I think I've gotten 'round the system by just forwarding it to an address where I can grab email. Wrong! Of course. I have to be signed into the new email, but of course, I can't sign into Hotmail with it. So how the *effing* hell do I verify!!

Out of interest, what is the "Username" you use to attempt to login to the "Webmail" that the host provides?
Have you tried using the full e-mail address? (I would use "angus [at] angus [dash] higgins [dot] com" [after converting the bracketed text {in the second layer of brackets}]).
This was a problem for me at first.
I cannot answer the question asked about the "MSN Messenger" issue however.

Forward to an existing address of yours and get the e-mail using that and click the link in that to verify (thats what I did), It's nothing to do with hotmail (Its a Live ID)

If you sign up to WL custom domains it uses hotmail for your email.Ignore that.
EDIT: His existing email is hotmail. He is signed into hotmail to pick up the verify. Recieves the link but when he click on it he is signed in with the wrong account.

Ahh, if you can copy the link, then copy it, sigh out of hotmail and pase the link back in to you browser, then signin when asked as the new account (same details as messenger)
