Windows Live Mail allows you to Forward all mail to another account. Thing is, it also deletes that mail once it's forwarded. Why!! ![]()
I want to have all my mail on my WLM, then have it forwarded to my GMail account so that I can
a) Have it backed up
b) Check mail in school - GMail is the only one that isn't blocked.
Why do they retard their products? Man. Who's idea was it to send all the emails somewhere, then delete them? It makes sense, in one way, but doesn't in another. There should be an option whether to delete them or not. ![]()

I assume you didn't just try this out but read the note in the WLM options page
"Note: Forwarded messages are deleted from Windows Live Hotmail."
I agree, its something they should've added (ability to forward emails without deleting from the server). Yahoo allows this, even Outlook has this built-in from Outlook 2000 days (or even before).
Maybe someone forgot to check-in that last feature before the beta tag was removed

That option is not present in a free account.

So Rick's got a paid-for account, and it's still got adverts?
Makes me glad I stopped using MSN/WL 3 years ago

I am always amazed / amused at folks with "free web mail" accounts...
they complain about the rules the provider has put in place, the missing features etc... hey you get what you pay for!
want to have it all then run your own server.
or pay for your email service.
I know someitmes we think the free account provders do crazy things like that missing fwd option but look at it from the side of the manager / owner of the servers.
the more I can show you adds by keeping you coming back to the web site and the less I store the more money I can make.
if I let folks store to much email then I have to pay for more servers and diskspace and rack space in the data center.... more costs for me to try and recoup.
the more i can keep users moving around the site reading adds the more I can sell adds to pay for running the site.
in that game why should I care about letting users have offsite pop access, save old mail etc.. ?
now if you are a paying customer then the whole game changes...
then I can be very interested in selling you all kinds of features and options like more storage, relay, pop3 sms/text messaging and whatever else is out there...

They're making millions of dollars from advertisements shoved in our faces. They're the ones making the profit and getting more out of it than they put in. They're the ones with the stronger bargaining power.

they only have that cause too many folks want "something for nothing" -- which is my point....
if someone does not like the "free mail" then stop using it, go get a paid account you can call the shots on.
I did not say that the "free mail" providers where not making any money... no what I said was they have no reason to spend any more money .... that's why they are makiing money... they look at how to keep the most users at the least cost. and if a few here and there leave... oh well what's a few hundred leaving a day when you have that many new accounts per hour created.... as long as you keep showing a growing user base to the adbuyers...

The irony is, even though I was thinking of buying a paid account, I can't find the option to actually do this. Typical.
So, they show you (well, they annoy you) by cutting out stuff you want, then don't give you the option to get it without creating a new account. Riiiight.

It's MSN, what else did you expect?
