ANOTHER iTunes update. ANOTHER 55MB. Does Apple not know how to apple patches or something? Is iTunes some Mac application wrapped in a virtual something or other?
/me downloads another weekly patch

I have actually given up...I am no longer updating. I guess I am disgruntled with the iphone integration. The simplicity is gone.

And it asks for reboot :/
My last update to I think, or turn off the auto update. -

I tend to wait and install every other (or every third) version instead.
Don't get me wrong I am happy they are updating with bug fixes as well as features but they do tend to be on the large side.

Not with point releases. You can access the iTunes store just fine with 7.0.0, AFAIK (although most likely not with 6.0).
I'm still on 7.4.0... might be time to update it.

I hear you can apply for a credit-card overseas, use a friend's home address, and use a private HTTP proxy in the states.

I agree, these updates are beginning to be ridiculous.

I take it you are equally annoyed by Microsoft's "patch Tuesdays"?

The point here is that Apple doesn't patch. They send down the whole installer and reinstall the product, all 55 MB of it.
That's rather large for a point release.

Especially seeing as the Windows installer (with Quicktime) is only 49Mb when you download from the Apple site. I wonder what the extra 6 Mb is.

With each iTunes update Jobs is one step closer to his master plan. One morning you'll boot your PC only to realize that your Windows desktop is now a Mac OS desktop
Then you'll understand what came with those patches.

If you release a product and then keep patching it instead of updating as a whole, you end up with an unmanageable mess. It is much easier in the long run to release a complete update than keep supporting various patch combinations and make sure they all work together. Hint, hint...
