Just out of interest, DCMonkey, how much RAM do you have?
2GB of DDR2 on a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R
Brand, clock speed and timings please.
Corsair, 800MHz, don't remember anything else off the top of my head. Will check later.
And for completeness, video is a PNY nVidia 8800 GTS and primary HD is a 160GB WD Raptor (with a WD 750GB 2ndary drive).
No OCing.
And my Antec P182B case should get at least a 5.9 for style.

I'm on DDR2-666 CL5 and get a 5.0, which is the lowest score. I've considered replacing it, but I figure it won't help much without also getting a new CPU (which currently scores a 5.2, the second lowest in the system) but I can't really do that without getting a new motherboard (I have a Core 2 Duo E6400 and the highest my mobo will go is an E6700)... You see where this is going.

I have 5.9 in everything but Memory, and that is a 5.8.
2 Gigs of DDR3 memory, NVidia 8800, Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.66 ghz -

2GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 (Twin2X2048-6400C4) memory. I have my BIOS Memory timing settings on Auto, so I assume I'm running at the default 5-5-5-18 instead of the tested 4-4-4-12, and it's running at 800MHz.

I wonder what kind of WEI scores the new 8800GT gets. It should be faster than the 8800GTS, so..
I wish hardware manufacturers would actually list these things. Not that it'd be extremely useful (at least not until game publishers start listing minimum and recommended WEI numbers on their games as well), but still. It'd help when shopping. -

I've got the gunmetal grey P182B too but the Seasonic 650W PSU is what would make it a better "experience" because it helps keep it very quiet. My system was built to keep the noise down. -
I'm assuming the new HP Blackbird 002 scores 5.9 on everything.

I've got an Antec TruePower Trio 650W in mine, and a Zalman CNPS9500 AT CPU cooler. It's not silent, but it's very quiet. And having it on the other side of my large wooden desk helps dampen the sound too.

"My video card gets a 5.9 and I see that 5.9 is the highest you can get (why not 6.0?)"
Because 6 is a sufficient grade but sadly the truth is that no hardware is sufficiently fast to run Vista properly so all you can get is a almost sufficient 5.9. -
On 7's 7.9 scale:
Processor: 7.1 (Core 2 Quad Q6600)
RAM: 7.1 (8GB Patriot)
Graphics: 4.5
(3x Radeon X1650 Pro)
Gaming Graphics: 4.7
Primary Hard Disk: 5.9 (WTF? Raptor 150GB) -

My "trusty" old HP D530 (Pentium-4) desktop finally died on me the other day, and I was in a rush to get back to work, so rustled up a bitsa from the parts bins... and then loaded Vista for the first time on my working desktop.
Overall - 4.0
---------------
Processor - 5.9
RAM- 5.9
Graphics - 4.2
Gaming Graphics - 4.0
Primary Hard Drive - 5.7
It's G45 based board, and gets along quite nicely.
As you might guess from those scores, I don't play games or hi-def video etc... but for what I do (web dev) I feel like I've just been dragged out of the stone-age... holy mother of... this thing is fast... LOL. -
You know what's funny? Intel videocards performance is abysmal, yet they score higher than some dedicated videocards that kick the hell out of those IGPs. Those Intel videocards shouldn't deserve any score higher than 1.0.elmer said:My "trusty" old HP D530 (Pentium-4) desktop finally died on me the other day, and I was in a rush to get back to work, so rustled up a bitsa from the parts bins... and then loaded Vista for the first time on my working desktop.
