Weirdly my score went up when I switched to 64 bit. Memory hopped up from 5.1 to 5.6. I don't understand that one bit!

Maybe more gigabytes of ram were recognized, or less memory was reserved by the videocard driver you installed.blowdart said:Weirdly my score went up when I switched to 64 bit. Memory hopped up from 5.1 to 5.6. I don't understand that one bit!

Memory access in x64 ..... the system pulls larger chunks of ram per cpu cycle which means better performance in reading sequenatil blocks of ram. ?write is also the same i guess?blowdart said:Weirdly my score went up when I switched to 64 bit. Wow, you've got a big system partition. I always put the OS + apps on a relatively small partition (80GB) and everything else on different drives/partitions, so I can reformat the system drive without worrying about preserving anything. It's a habit I picked up during the Windows 2000 and XP betas, where we'd sometimes get a new build every week which meant re-installing your PC a lot.

Yeah I might do that, they make it pretty easy to resize partitions now adays. What I usually do is just copy my user profile to an external drive and then copy it back. I'll probably carve out a new partition when the Windows 8 betas come out.
