I totally agree...my favorite is the Sales Award. The ultimate recognition of product success are happy customers and repeat sales (not to mention the existing ones!).

I think awards are meaningless marketing tactical, traffic building mechanisms these days. I do agree however, that the absolute best feeling (as a developer) is when a user is *excited* to use your software. When they say, "Man, this thing has made my life/job/hobby/etc so much easier/more productive/fulfilling!" I think that "...improved my life" is a stretch though.
