What was the last fun, free thing you downloaded from MS?

*cannot be to do with security (sp's, apps) or dev tools...(popfly,Silverlight, apps)

Id have to say Microsoft Max - which they discontinued.

Since facebook i dont use messenger, ive checked out windows live stuff - un-installed it minutes later...

i cant think of anything else...  in like 3/4 years

xpise for xp maybe - but that wasnt ms

*are we overdue for some themes or something!?

I'd say Live Photo Gallery. The Robotics Studio SDK is fun to play around with, too. Oh, and XNA Game Studio. If you're going back three years, I'd definitely say Messenger.

so live photo gallery (which isnt really a downloaded app/thing per say) and messenger..   the other 2 are dev tools?

*edit - zune desktop you need xp?

What do you mean "isnt really a downloaded app"? It's exactly that.

Requirements for Zune desktop.

Wouldn't Robotics Studio and XNA Game studio be a dev tool? and thus excluded from the question....

No Zune theme (I would have said that, or more precisely the "Zune Visual Style"). The Zune software application, based on a variant of MCML. It just rocks.

i didnt know the zune theme was available for vista... so if i download the 200 meg zune software - it comes with it? (in canada - no zunes)

They were fun and free. You never said they can't be dev tools. Why can't they be dev tools, anyway?

Anyway, Robotics Studio and XNA aren't boring business type dev tools.. They're about robots and games. Fun!
